Yeah, that's pretty good! Also reinforces my desire to have a decent Avengers PC game. Thanks for posting that. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

I think I'm in love with that Cathy. She's just like the real one.
Steed's blazer hits one in the eye though. _________________ Last watched: The Man in the Mirror. |

It was the only one left after the horrible fire that took out his closet.
Cathy's leathers are very well-done, though. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

This one seemed less successful, somehow--it may be the great big guns that a lot of the characters are toting, but that's to be expected since the source material is obviously from a shooter. The source material is more suited to the Gale era, IMO. Still a fun experiment, though. An Avengers adventure game would be really great. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Rumble Comics now has a third Avengers trailer. This time with Steed, Mrs Peel, Tara and Mother.
http://rumble-comics.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/avengers-trailer-3.html
I have enjoyed watching these. However, the main reason I've been visiting the Rumble website is to see if Act 2 of their Steed & Mrs Gale comic strip has been posted. I actually enjoyed reading Act 1 more than I did reading Boom Studio's Steed and Mrs Peel comic. However, with its references to other characters from the videotaped era - Dr Keel, Dr King, Carol Wilson, One-Ten, etc - l can see that it is something that would appeal only to existing fans whereas Boom are having to tread the difficult path of appealing both to existing fans and (hopefully) people who have never seen The Avengers before. _________________ Paul |

This seemed less 'off-model' than the last episode. Nice to see Tara and Mother included. _________________

Mother's pretty darn close, actually--it come be Patrick Newell!
I actually enjoy reading the guy's musings about an Avengers game almost as much as the trailers. It would have to be a mystery/adventure game, not a shooter. I've actually thought of the episodic format, before. You could have an overarching mystery that stretches over the years, divided up into multiple episodes. Each episode could be set in a different era of the show, from Keel to TNA. Are you listening, Telltale Games? If you're not going to give me another Monkey Island, this is the least you can do.
This looks to be the last trailer, though. And I was hoping to see him have a crack at Purdey and Gambit... _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Count me in as another Monkey Island fan who thinks that The Avengers would be perfect for Telltale's brand of episodic games (though I'm not a big fan of their latest - more action, less adventure - ventures, I must say).
Maybe your suggestion should be made on Telltale's forum (in this thread, for example) rather than this one. |

And I thought I was the only Avengers/Monkey Island fan in existence! I can see Steed standing at someone's door: "I'm selling these fine leather catsuits." (There's an in-joke I never thought I'd be able to make).
Because Avengerland isn't really suited to a run-and-gun kind of game, I think the adventure game format would work perfectly (I also happen to like adventure games, and the fact that there aren't many being made anymore makes want a decent series). Telltale isn't the only company that's done the episodic format, but they come to mind because they did such a brilliant job with Tales of Monkey Island--they could probably capture the humour and absurdity of Avengerland. The only other series I've played is a couple of episodes of the Wallace and Gromit series. The properties they've licenced since haven't interested me.
I used to lurk on the TTG forums, but never posted. I haven't the foggiest idea if it would be feasible rightswise--would Canal allow it? Would Telltale be able to afford it? _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Telltale has a definite knack for making games that recreate the atmosphere of any franchise / movie / TV series / game series.
One of their weaker games (IMHO) as far as gameplay was Back to the Future: The Game. It was a Monkey Island / point-and-click type game, but was seriously lacking in interactivity and variety (due to Telltale trying to make an easier game for fans of Back to the Future who might not have any experience with point-and-click adventure games, something that would not be necessary with games such as Sam and Max or Monkey Island).
However, one area of the game where it was hard to fault Telltale was the atmosphere which was perfectly in line with the Back to the Future movie, the end result being that while fans of Telltale's earlier games were more than a bit frustrated by the incredibly low level of difficulty and interaction, non-gamer Back to the Future fans were happy to consider it a part of the Back to the Future "canon".
Having played every non-CSI Telltale game up to Puzzle Agent 2 (I also own Jurassic Park, Law & Order Legacies and The Walking Dead, but have yet to get motivated enough to give them a chance), I can tell you that IMHO, every Telltale game I've ever played recreates the atmosphere of the comic / game / movie / TV show / web cartoon upon which it's based perfectly and I'm sure that an Avengers game would be no exception.
As for the actual possibility of an Avengers game being made (should Telltale be interested), I'm sure that Telltale would be able to afford it (with more than a million copies of The Walking Dead game sold in the first six weeks, there is little they can't afford at this time) and that the issue would lie more with Canal allowing them to make the game (the main reason why there hasn't been a second season of Tales of Monkey Island is that Telltale never owned the rights - LucasArts does - and while Telltale seemed to have a good relationship with the LucasArts president at the time - who also seemed to be in favor of bringing back old adventure games, having speared the remakes of the first two Monkey Island games and made available a few of their older point-and-click games on Steam -, he has since left LucasArts - as has his successor - and the purchase of LucasFilms - and thereby LucasArts - by Disney definitely doesn't bode well for the future of the Monkey Island franchise). |

Yeah, the issues with LucasArts are well-documented, as are the frustration of the fans of their games. Telltale is rare in that they're one of the few developers who still produce adventure games--LucasArts just doesn't seem interested in them any longer, and I don't imagine the Disney sale is going to help matters. I agree that Telltale would quite happily do more Monkey Island given the opportunity, but there seems to be a "don't want to make anything/don't want to let you make it, either" attitude at LucasArts that's almost impossible to overcome. At this rate, I'd be happy if they just rereleased the third and fourth Monkey Island installments so I can actually play them! (I came late to the franchise--Tales was my first--though I did play Loom back in the day!). I agree that what I have played is very faithful to the original properties--given the Avengers, they'd probably work hard at it. But I do wonder about Canal... _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?
