I was also considering this release, though the comments say bad picture quality... I'm sure this has been discussed, could somebody kindly push me in the right direction? |

I've considered buying the box, but if the quality's really that bad... It'd be great if someone could help out here. |

The quality is bad, I have seen some screenshots on the internet. You can wait until a new release is here, or you buy them from an other country in Europe. I think those from France (2008) have good quality. In Germany they release TNA in the second quarter of 2010 and certain in very good quality!

The French releases of TNA are only slightly better in terms of prints, but are quite poor in terms of authoring. They are also French prints, so have French on-screen titles, should that be of interest.
As for whether TNA will be part of the new Optimum special edition, as far as we know, it won't be. _________________ Alan

I don't think, that they have French on-screen titles, because on our dvd edition is everything in english (all credits, and titles), only the sound is in german. But I don't know it certainly how it is in France. The episode titles have only subtitles. _________________ Steed: "Eee-urp!!" |

Hm, how bad is bad? a screenshot really would help. 18 pounds really isn't too expensive.
Or to put it in relation, I've got the Dutch release and no big complaints. Better worse or much worse? |

You're welcome!
Was does quite poor in terms of authoring mean? Did they use worse cameras or are the episodes only bad restored? _________________ Steed: "Eee-urp!!" |

The French releases are definitely from French prints, with French language captions/episode titles on the prints. _________________ Alan

They have low bitrates and therefore are full of modern DVD artifacts and 'blocking'. _________________ Alan

yeah, the U.S. release was poor...due to lame-ola source material, which the dvd masters were struck from...hopefully, a re mastered set is in the pipeline..... |

That's absolutely ridiculous. They're littering ebay for a fraction of that. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Honestly, folks, the quality is not bad at all. Certainly not remastered quality, but to call it "bad" is simply nonsense. And for a mere £15.98 (price as I write) it's a bargain that should be snapped up IMO.

I'd love to have seen more extras - at least a couple of interviews (a behind-the-scenes, would have been even better, but impossible if one doesn't actually exist), but you do get the two excellent commentaries featuring Brian Clemens and the late great Gareth Hunt (recorded shortly before his death) which should be incentive enough.
My advice: GET IT NOW!! _________________ "My LADS...! All my Lads DEAD!... Now WHO would do THAT...?"

That was pretty much my reason for buying it. I would have been quite happy for commentaries on all 26, really, but I suppose that would have been overkill, wouldn't it? It's the best we've gotten for extras in terms of TNA, though. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

I do feel jealous about the commentaries, but having both the English and French releases that came out earlier, I can't justify "triple-dipping"!
If Optimum restore TNA to the quality of the classic series they're doing in R2, then I'd consider it. Even better, BluRay - as long as they use restored prints, would make me buy a player.
The connection on of the 4 speakers on my non-HD telly has gone - can I justify getting a new one? (Am tempted for BD 'The Prisoner'.) _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

I don't find the Optimum 2006 release of The New Avengers to be too bad in terms of quality. |
