To update my own post, I contacted the Miami Auto Museum earlier this year and the car is still for sale. They didn't say how much but they did invite me to go and view it (not really an option for me).

Following the record price paid for Roger Moore's Aston Martin DBS from The Persuaders!, the latest edition of Classic & Sports Car magazine has an article on the value of famous cars.

"For Emma Peel's Lotus Elans from
The Avengers (a white S2, missing presumed
dead, or a blue S3) you would be looking at a
reasonable-sounding 40-60,000. We say reasonable
because even stock models are getting close to those
heights."

Roger Moore's Persuaders car sold for over 500'000. I remember a figure of around 80k 'The Cars Of The Stars' museum roughly 10 years ago as an estimate for Emma's Lotus Elan.

Very lovely retro-style comic artwork there. Thanks for posting it, Ian. Is the whole comic book/strip in that style?

If I'd bought it, I'd offer rides to fellow "The Persuaders!" fans at reasonable prices - could be a good living to be made from that!

Would you give discounts to the ones who showed up wearing Tony Curtis driving gloves? Wink

Especially if they washed their hands whilst wearing them Smile

That's a point though - where is Danny Wilde's car these days? Take them down to the Riviera and have a race!

I'd bring my own bucket and wash them on the spot. Wink

I don't know what's become of the Ferrari, but I was just wondering that myself. It'd be wonderful to see them in action side by side again. Cool

Me too, but I'm thinking "do I really need a house" Laughing

It simply amazes me that Emma's beautiful car is for sale; I dream about it!

Three years later and I've picked up the trail again!

By chance I noticed the car transport company "Circuit2Circuit" have this posted on their website:

1966 Lotus

This car, a 1966 Lotus Elan was collected from Heathrow by Circuit2Circuit and delivered to Northants safely and descreetly in one of our covered car trailers.
This particular car was used in 'The Avengers' by Diana Rigg's character Emma Peel and was owned by Rigg for a period.

No date on the news item but the photograph appears to have been taken in Feb 2013.

Around the same time the user "scottyn" posted on a Lotus Forum that he is rebuilding the car:
http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f165/sjh-499d-1966-powder-blue-lotus-elan-s3-123588/

Unfortunately he/she hasn't posted again since. The car still is not registered with the DVLA but at least it appears it was back in the UK in early 2013.

Ian

I'm happy to see that this iconic car associated to The Avengers has been returned to the UK. Though as you indicate it would be nice to know the current state of play.

It does not look to be in bad condition from the photograph, although I realize that only so much detail can be made out. Further to this, I was never aware that Diana liked the Elan so much that she actually owned it at one point.

An article in the Hertfordshire Mercury. The owner of the second Elan is one Deryck Norville, who is now in the hunt for the first one...

Great news that Deryck Norville has tracked down the Lotus Elan from the colour Rigg episodes and intends restoring it to its original condition. I wish him all the best with his search for the earlier white Elan from the black and white episodes. Still the Big cat Jaguar from The New Avengers surfaced eventually, so there's always some hope.
