On a less stupid note, I received this set for christmas and it was an absolute joy to watch "new" episodes after all this time (having never seen all of season two and only "The Frighteners" from season one). The sound and picture quality is amazing and I just loved "Girl On A Trapeze"! If only more episodes survived, I loved seeing the pairing of Keel and Carol on an adventure of their own. Quite amazing when you think a series that is almost 50 years old is still thrilling and entertaining audiences, well this very excited audience anyway!

Well done for all involved on this set, (who cares if there was a hiccup when the end result is this good!) and roll on new year to see what surprises are to come!

I agree. Give me a nearly 50 year old classic like The Avengers any day over some newfangled thing with generic actors, bad language, and too many special effects. I, too, am enjoying the early episodes tremendously. The newly remastered versions leave the previously released DVDs in the (silent) dust. Yes, it is tragic that more of the Ian Hendry episodes aren't around, but that makes the few we have that much more special. I am particularly fond of "The Frighteners". Such snappy dialogue!

My discs were sent out today. Looking forward to receiving the corrected ones.

By the way, what exactly is an "amaray" anyway?

Please note - I've just noticed that the postcode originally supplied was incorrect. It should be W1F 9BQ, not 8BQ.

I just sent mine off with the old code--will they get there? Sad

The 2 post codes aren't very far apart in terms of location, but who knows with Royal Mail? My parcel has already been delivered (to the correct location, I hope!) I just hope that the 2 errors (disc numbers and post codes) are the only things to happen because I need my fix!

It shouldn't be a problem.

The postcode may have been wrong but they'll still deliver it to the right address as the beginning of the post code is correct and they still have actual address. It doesn't worry me.

Well, fingers crossed it gets there. It costs a lot to send something to Britain, and I'd rather it didn't come back with "return to sender" scribbled on it.

Is it also possible to bring it directly to 50 Marshall St. in London? And if it is possible, can I also get the new discs immediately back?

No, it's not possible to return them in person.

Does this mean that if you buy a new set now, that all the discs will work properly? Or are the old boxes with dodgy discs still being sold?

No, the retailers will not return stock they are holding to Optimum. Hence, why buyers will need to return them. When the set goes onto repress, the new discs will replace the old discs.

Has anyone any idea when the sets will be re-pressed? I've made up my mind to pick up the set, but I don't want to buy one with the faulty discs if I can help it.

Thanks,
Steve

I still haven't sent off my discs, (I'm a little slow I know!) but do we know if there is a cut-off date to send them back by?

I've asked that too. I'm hoping there won't be a cut off point. I've not sent mine off yet either so you're not alone. But I have bought the jiffy bags! Wink
