How much is it in Waterstones? I looked on their website and it was saying £25. _________________

That's the RRP. Fair price for such a gorgeous volume I'd say.
All the best

The half price deal was only on some titles, not "The Avengers" one.

Indeed - but my wife and I try to avoid purchasing on the internet wherever possible because we very much like to support high street stores. We've seen so many excellent businesses go to the wall because of the net and a lot of friends lose their jobs, so we like to do our bit where we can afford to.
All the best

Unfortunately I'm not in a position financially to do that Andrew, but good luck with it. Waterstones is a huge chain anyway, being part of the HMV group. _________________

Tough times indeed. We're doing what we can to keep everything in circulation ... but we know that there will eventually be a limit to what we can do. And we'll do it as long as viable.

True ... but both seem to be having difficulties and are clearly carrying notably less stock.

There is something very satisfying about choosing a book (or a record) off the shelf and going to the desk. Picking up a parcel off the matt isn't quite the same. _________________

Forbidden Planet have this and the Hammer posters book for £5.00 off.
I only found this out after I'd bought them elsewhere. Grrrr! _________________ You check the files, I'll check my memories. |

Got this yesterday at a Hammer Horror event, a really nice book, with some great photos. Would have liked more text and maybe each page about one episode, a bit like Marcus's "The Hammer Story" but still very nice to look at. |

I generally don't get time to go far enough to find things like this. Plus if you don't buy books like this when there's a glut on the shelf, you can end up with a thumbed copy before you've managed to do it yourself. Buying through Amazon I like to think I'll get a copy which no-human goat-sucking alien has touched. Although saying that I sent back mt Dr Who annual 2 weeks ago as it was scratched to death.
ps, gorgeous Cathy avatar Dandy. |

Had the pleasure this evening of finishing off "The Avengers: A Celebration". What a lovely book! All sorts of little nuggets of information carefully tucked away in the text and captions for me to savour ... and such a beautiful array of photographs which reminded me what a stylish series this really was. The sort of book which leaves you thinking, "Gosh! I really fancing getting a few episodes off the shelf and watching those again!" Seems to capture the spirit of the show brilliantly. Cheered me up immensely!
All the best

Sounds good, Andrew. I had an email to say my book is on it's way late last week so could arrive anytime now.
EDIT: In fact the postie has just dropped it off. It looks A-Maze-Ing.

received my book today. Lotsa pictures, even one of Peter Hammond directing in 1963. Nice things said about him.
too bad he couldn't have contributed to the book himself. Wot a wealth of tales he could tell us.
sigh. . . _________________ I didn't sell out. I bought in.

Wonderful photographs, interesting insights into the series' production, and a Patrick Macnee foreword.
The only problem is that there isn't enough of it. |

^ I feel the same. I have not been able to put it down since yesterday, but, before I know where I am, I'm on the last page. They could easily have added a chapter for TNA. _________________

Lovely book indeed. Read half-way though it last night. A nice read. Flicked through the rest of the book quickly before bed, will finish it tonight or at the weekend.
Worst part of the book? Photo on the last page.. of Mr Hearn. Ferfacsake man.. SIT UP STRAIGHT! Do you think Steed spends his days slouching around?! |

Some beautiful shots, well worth it. Yes a bit light on text, but I think we know the Avengers story so well from other sources, so not much more to add givne the lack of new interviews with cast and crew. |

The Avengers was the ultimate in space-age cool
Quote: | Whether you know it or not, chances are your style choices have been influenced by The Avengers, the British show which made "saving the world" a fetish. Check out some exclusive images from a new book celebrating the Avengers' style.
Yes, yes, there's that other team called the Avengers — but did they have a bowler hat or kinky boots? Well, maybe the boots. But probably no member of the more well-known Avengers team ever took a cigarette break while being slid inside what looks like some kind of mind-probe. (Any idea which episode picture #5 is from?) Of course, Marvel's Avengers team is getting a big movie in 2012, and the British Avengers have never had a movie. (Shut up. No, they haven't.) |

Nice pics to enlarge, if you haven't yet got the book. _________________
