Nice work! Very Happy (Though I have to respectfully disagree with your analysis of TNA. Wink )

Me too. The bit about them trying to make The New Avengers up-to-date especially. The Avengers was always trying to be up-to-date - in fact, ahead of it's time.

It would have been a commercial disaster if they'd set TNA in the 60's. I know these days we have Ashes To Ashes, Mad Men, and even Heartbeat, which are set in different time frames, but there wasn't this kind of nostalgia in the 70's - Dad's Army being an exception. It was all about being current.

yeah, but I think the main characters like Steed and also Purdey or Gambit are completely in the backround. Of course there are also good episodes like "Emily", but sometimes you just see violent scenes and "charme" is missing - well, I'm a girl :) :)

Really? I've always seen TNA as more of a character piece--we have entire episodes built around the characters (Dead Men are Dangerous, Obsession), and a lot of the other stories feature some sort of personal touch for at least one of the three, or at the very least give them a chance to talk about something other than the assignment-of-the-week (I was quite surprised when I went back and watched the Peels how little Emma and Steed talk about anything other than the plot). I've always felt that the Gale episodes were the most guilty of pushing the leads into the background, though this was a consequence of the "live" filming--huge chunks of time can pass without Steed or Cathy putting in an appearance.

I've frankly never understood the "TNA is too violent" criticisms, either. I guess I don't find Purdey high-kicking someone that traumatising (pretty tame compared to most cartoons, really).

But I'm sounding all negative--an Avengers blog is a great idea. There are a lot of blogs that post a few odd things about the show, but not many that focus exclusively on it. They all help the cause. Very Happy (I also voted in all your polls. Wink )

that's really great that you like my blog - it's quite alot of work, and it's really nice that now someone is reading it. I didn't know where i can post the link, but i think to post it here was a good decision :D

well, I'm an absolute emma peel fan - perhaps this is the reason why i prefer this episodes - i also like TNA - there are some very good scenes
but I'm still dreaming that steed and emma are a couple :D :D

In TNA they created a coplete new style - it's not so oldfashioned, it's quite alright..well, I love all episodes - doesn't matter if they are new avengers or old ones :D

I can imagine it is. I have a new little website and it eats into my time quite easily. Laughing

I love the Emma era, too--I started with it, after al (and, well, the username's a bit of a giveaway Wink )l--but I have a huge fondness of TNA. They're very different animals, but I've always been a ambivalent as to whether Steed and Emma were a couple--I can see and accept it both ways. I guess I saved all my energy for Purdey and Gambit. Laughing

It is nice to know that Emily has a fan base, though small it may be. Smile

I have no problem with Emily, either. It's one of those episodes you have to watch with the right attitude--if you take it too seriously, it won't work. I haven't seen it in ages, though--perhaps I ought to look at it again?
