Last night I watched Repulsion starring Catherine Deneuve. Terrific film about a woman's descent into insanity. Ian Hendry didn't have a huge role, but he was excellent as usual. I did notice him limping in the movie's final scene. I've never noticed this before. Can anyone shed any light on this Ian actually made some terrific movies after he left The Avengers. Besides Repulsion he was also excellent in Get Carter, Theatre of blood and especially The Hill, which I think saw his finest acting. If ever there was an actor who should have gone on to achieve even greater things Rich. |

As well as the fine things previously mentioned here, I also liked Ian in the main role of The Lotus Eaters (one of the four Greece-set TV series Michael J. Bird made for the BBC). And a British film Ian stared in called Live Now - Pay later (1962) in which he played a super confident door-to-door salesman who's so enthusiastic, he would often jump out of his van while it was still moving to proposition another customer on the street! Just can't seem to find that movie on DVD these days, wish I could see it again. |

Ian's 1964 film 'This is my street' gets an airing this Saturday (3rd Aug) on the excellent Talking pictures channel at 8pm. Ian gets top billing but there's an impressive supporting cast including both Mike Pratt and Annette Andre, some four years before they worked together on you know what. Rich. |

Just watched Girl in the headlines on the Talking pictures channel, a film from 1963 starring Ian. He was great in this film, a natural leading actor. I noticed he had a scar on his forehead in this film, something I've never noticed in any of his other films, so am I right in assuming it's just make-up for this one role? You can see it clearly in this photo.
