When the show was filmed, didn't they keep on hand, 2 vehicles ? I understand
they were a tad troublesome to run at times...a few scenes, had the crew pushing
the car in and out of a scene..

did those cars end up in a private collection ?

I see from The Avengers Forever: Avenging Vehicles that there were 6 Bentleys and at least one is now in the USA.
The classic cars are a great part of the show.

Thats great....I like MGA's, is it a twin cam? I had an MGB for a few years and that was ok to keep running, not too complicated.

I yearned for that car when I was a kid. Used to look at pictures of it all the time. It must be hell to keep it going, though.

Patrick preferred the Bentley to the Rolls-Royce as a car for Steed. He says so in the introduction on one of the videos! (I think it's the intro to The Rotters'). Personally I think Steed looks fine in both classic cars.

Patrick had good judgement. The Rolls is a bit too stately for the job. The Bentley has more associations with speed and action from as far back as the '30s.

was never much of an Rolls fan....even back in the show's heyday, I found them
dull and lacking (to me)

The Bentleys were perfect...

There were all sorts of MGs in the show at some time or other... Cathy had an MGA and MGAs, MGBs and Midgets all appeared in "Dead Man's Treasure"

The MG's were nice, although all the cars in dead mans treasure were lovely. If only there were more 60's cars on the roads today, life would be so much better. You rarely see a Lotus Elan or Elan +2 these days.....shame!!!

Leyland were bleedin' awful, as Brian Clemens points out when talking about their deal supplying cars for TNA.

It is a shame the likes of Lotus have gone into the hands of faceless Japanese companies though.

I agree with folks here and Pat--Steed fit the Bentleys more than the Rolls Royce, but he also fit the Range Rover in TNA, too (not that awful yellow sports car).

Pat has said numerous times that driving the Bentleys was quite hard. He could not get them to shift gears hardly at all, and also of course, opening and closing the doors was difficult, ergo the great Steed move of leaping in and out of them without bothering with the door. I loved that! Wink

The car he seems most associated with from TNA is the "Big Cat" Jaguar (1976 Olive Green 5.3 Litre Jaguar XJ12 Coupe Automatic). It even got mentioned on "Top Gear" just a few years back (perhaps Joanna Lumley was on?).

Agree that the audience seeing Steed fumbling with the door on a Bentley would've dispelled his cool somewhat.

Right, that Jaguar was an amazing car and it did fit Steed perfectly in TNA.
