What soon we will see on Steedumbrella! Wink

In addition to the rare Spanish kit for teaching English by The Avengers, I bought a French VHS set of TNA (both items I received in one parcel).

http://steedumbrella.ru/VHS_France_Sony_Music.html

Soon we will see the scans of full covers and videocassettes of this set. Wink Moreover, I'll check every episode and write about the results here and on website. Wink

Jist now updated the page "Linda Thorson: Other Works" in connection with the addition of the ad from magazine Vogue from April 1969.

http://steedumbrella.ru/linda_thorson_other_works.html

Link to the commercial "Laurent Perrier Champagne" now changed and goes to the social network VK. I plan to make VK the main place for video, where there will be links from Steedumbrella. Reason: this is a more permanent place, from my view, and moreover many videos on Youtube or other resources where the links from Stedumbrella followed, have already been deleted.

Sadly, based on fact that very many popular resources, such as Dailymotion, are completely forbidden in Russia now (as well as using anonymizers), so here are the forced limitations in my actions.

Small updates on Steedumbrella today, which not post in the news.

1. Presented two Avengers cards from the Spanish album "Astros De TV" (1967). In all, this album included 185 cards dedicated to the TV stars of the 1960s.

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_cards_Spain.html

2. Posted the photos and info for audiocassette "Harry Stoneham - Hammond Hits The Highway" (1972), which includes cover version of popular music The Avengers Theme.

Updated the page "TNA on french VHS from Sony Music". Smile

http://steedumbrella.ru/VHS_France_Sony_Music.html

Details in English by link below: Wink

http://avengersfanforum.s2.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?p=63318#63318

Next point: I have already started to study the dates of TV broadcasting the series in Russia outside of Moscow, thanks to the site http://tvp.netcollect.ru/

Let's see what we can find out - while I found that many cities retransmitted the TV series from channel TV6 Moscow on their own-local. Some cities showed the episodes on other days of the week, and in Nizhny Novgorod it was even repeated.

On June 21, Aleksei Sidorov (one of Steedumbrella founders) called me by the phone and asked if I ready to participate in event "meeting of Russian Avengers fans" in the near future. I agreed and we discussed some points about the participation in this event for the first time of our class teacher from college, where we studied, to make a general photoraphy (our class teacher is the enough important person in the history of Steedumbrella, exactly she influenced for the acquaintance of future founders of Russian fan-group).
There is the idea for creating a short comic story about Steed (at the moment this is in consideration as sort of anecdote). If it happens, the author of the comic strip will be Aleksei Sidorov, the presentation will take the place at the event (supposedly in July). Wink

Cheers, dear Avengers fans, fresh news on Steedumbrella: Smile

http://steedumbrella.ru/steedumbrella_news.html

In addition to publishing a page "Greeting cards from Art & Hue", which began to be produced on order from July 2 this year (Read the details here: http://artandhue.com/licensing-biz-avengers/), I partially reconstructed section "Merchandise".

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_the_avengers.html

Instead of the button "Stickers" (the page has recently moved to the "Cards" section)...

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_cards.html

...there is a button "Boxes" (section with three pages: matches, perfume and chocolate).

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_boxes_of_matches.html

The section "Merchandise: miscellaneous" was reduced due to the mentioned changes, as well as the appearance of the pages "Stands" and "Magnets". Wink

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_stands.html

http://steedumbrella.ru/merchandise_magnets.html

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other good news, I received the aforementioned parcel, which includes German DVDs: episode Tunnel of Fear, b/w episodes with Emma Peel (new release) and full Tara King series (second part is new release too). Wink
I will update the site in the coming days: covers, DVD discs, etc... Smile

Back to work in The Avengerland. Smile

Just updated the Steedumbrella page Magazine TÚlÚ Star: French Avengers DVDs. Smile

Added the scans and info for DVD edition Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir: DVD 3 that was produced but most probably distributed through a subscription or not released at all. It is known that only DVD 1 was released with the magazine TÚlÚ Star.

http://steedumbrella.ru/DVD_France_Mondadori.html

As it turned out the contents of the disc Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir: DVD 3 is completely identical to DVD edition "Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir (68 ) - Volume 3", released on April 19, 2011.

http://steedumbrella.ru/DVD_France_Studio_Canal_first_edition_6.html

This gives a good hint of what should have been a whole set (though I've never seen others ones, except for the mentioned DVD 1 and DVD 3).

For your pleasure, I posted on the site the original cover and disk scans of Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir: DVD 3 too. Wink Just click on the images to see. Wink

What is expected on Steedumbrela in the coming days. Very Happy

1. Scans of covers and discs, screenshots of menus, and also detailed info for German DVDs: b/w episodes with Emma Peel (new release) and Tara King series (second part, new release too). Wink

2. After point 1, I planning to go to detailed work for episode page "Epic".

P.S./ I'm already more resolutely considering the topic of buying a multi-zone Blu Ray player in order to purchase The Avengers to identify the performers and other little details (since I have a modern TV with a very large screen). Wink I think I'll start with the USA Blu Ray edition (Emma Peel in Color), as he is most available by the money for me.

Also, I have to oblige myself to explain why a series of scheduled interviews with the different people connected with the series was put on the shelf. Firstly, the program to work on the section was originally designed for the fact that this will deal with a group of people and not one person. This already created some difficulties at the start, you must be clearly adjusted to each other at the right time in the right place, which is not easy to do when people in the group are all busy people with different skills in knowing one common language (to work for such a serious section you should speak all together distinctly in at least one language so that the guest of the program is mentally related to your activity), and you can do this only through the Internet and living completely in different parts of the world.

Years ago, there managed to do a couple interviews, thanks to Alan Hayes and Christine Stutz. We worked dynamically, with humor, in an interesting way trying to ask original questions and soon found that our pace had brought us to the point where it seems we could do one interview for a month.

As always, all the members of this group were quite active people and we all worked in different areas. In this vein, each of us could not know for sure who will do next week if you did not warn in advance (at least I had a good feeling for this).

The first forced pause for the interview series arose at the moment when the news appeared about the death of Patrick Macnee. Yes, we wanted to make a surprise for the fans and arrange an interview with the main actor of the series, trying to find the kind of questions that Patrick might have asked for the first time ever. A letter was written and sent to the need address. Soon we received confirmation that the letter reached the destination and it was a sign that we could wait at any time to signal that we would start work for a unique interview.

Oh, soon it happened - we learned about the death of Patrick. It was a general mourning for Avengerland and we stopped work indefinitely.
Further things continued to go in black tones - I was offered work as a film editor of a musical documentary. One of the conditions was that I was must to do it for a certain time - three weeks before the premiere of this film in Belogorie. I agreed, as the length of the film was planned to be about 50 minutes, and imperceptibly for myself very much went into work to such an extent that I started spending a lot of time at the computer. The more I worked, the more I felt that I did not have time to do things by the time and spent more time with the computer. One day I woke up in the morning and found that my eyevision fell sharply - it was very noticeable. I fell into a panic and began to study and try various methods to get rid of, but nothing helped (including going to the doctor). I fell into depression, decided to give up work at the computer and even completely shut down Steedumbrella. My idea was to completely turn as the actor, as coincidentally at that time there were interesting scripts of movies that I was offered. I mentally said goodbye to Avengerland (I could not even write letters to my friends abroad, because my eyes started to hurt hellishly when I was sitting at the computer even with a screen of sane low brightness) and began to prepare for the star role in the Russian science fiction movie. At that time I played the star role in only one art house film (I used to play only minor and small roles before) and it was in post-production - no one knew what to expect from the upcoming film, but there was a decision to risk shooting another film with me - and this time commercial. The plot of the film was pretty beaten for the viewer of world cinema, but in Russia the topic was little studied. My character ran away from the hooligans and at some point when I ran into an unfamiliar apartment building and ran out from the other side - I found myself in a parallel universe very similar to the real one. It was in this universe where the main adventures of the hero happened. I studied the script, it seemed interesting to me and the main thing was there was a lot of original story moves. I spent some time with the film director talking about the character and script, then from Petersburg came to us a familiar camera operator, went talk about locations. It seemed all was going well until one day the director told us that the producer of the planned project on certain differences had refused to finance the project. Well, the producer offered to contribute a very large amount of money to the project, and I thought that the director would make some concessions for this - but the director refused to make the forced changes to the script (not particularly significant, I must say) and the project went to the shelf (although I periodically hinted to film director about this project). I was offered another script already with a miserly monetary budget, but I refused the project because the script reminded me of some arthausal thrash on the topic of my hero being sent to Paradise, where he could lead an unrest life and eventually he got tired of it, soon he ended his life by suicide - again fell on the Earth. The End... Very Happy

Throughout this time my eyevision remained the stable - it's better, then worse - and I'm used to it. Gradually, I began to return to Avengerland, although I limited myself to a certain amount of time at the computer. Began to do walks every day, etc. I must adhere to the fact that I remain a multi-faceted creative person with many projects, this also affects the fact that I regularly disappear from Avengerland, however my love for the series remains the same and so the site of Steedumbrella will be gradually updated as before, but at a slower pace..
I do not know if the project on the series of interviews will be resumed, since it will take more time for the computer than I allow myself now, but we'll see.

Just finished studying and posting on Steedumbrella for the German DVD edition of the b/w Emma Peel episodes, released in 2017 by StudioCanal.

http://steedumbrella.ru/DVD_Germany_2017_season4.html

On Steedumbrella page for this DVD edition I presented the original scans of the cover of the box with disks (not the total package) and each DVD disc. Just click on the images to see the originals. Wink Also presented a booklet in the PDF format by clicking on "Сканы буклета".

Interesting notes:

1. Each DVD disc starts from the Warning in German, followed by the "Kinowelt" video insert (which is a mistake, as from September 1st 2011, Kinowelt was "absorbed" by StudioCanal).
Looks like the contents of the disks before the DVD menu has not been changed and taken from the old German DVD releases. (I can not confirm because I do not have other German DVD editions of this season).

2. After Kinowelt video logo, there appears the menu (see the screenshot below), asking whether you want to turn on or turn off the intros of Oliver Kalkofe and Wolfgang Bahro to each episode. You will be able to adjust this in the general DVD menu too. Wink

On the first DVD disc, if you will turn on for Oliver Kalkofe and Wolfgang Bahro in root menu (see the screenshot above), you will see the Greeting these two men before you enter the main DVD menu. This is only on first DVD disc.

Although the main DVD menu design is identical to the old German DVD editions, there are small changes. For example, DVD menu of episodes.
Old:

2017:

Yes, these changes are that now every optinal item has an arrow. Wink

Menu of bonuses on first DVD disc are bit of different too.

Kinowelt:

StudioCanal:

It is very possible that other German DVD editions of b/w Emma Peel episodes including videos from Oliver and Wolfgang have same DVD menus (that is, like 2017 German DVD edition).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important notes:

Prints of the episodes are identical to those (including the "StudioCanal" video logo that precedes each episode) that were first released by Optimum / StudioCanal in 2010. The only exception is the episode "Too Many Christmas Trees," where the name of the director and scriptwriter is correct, and the episode "Man-Eater of Surrey Green" where the musical accompaniment in the footage "Lennox emerges from behind the trees on the road to the truck and watches the unloading of bags of fertilizer"is presented as in other copies of the episode.

http://steedumbrella.ru/DVD_UK_Studio_Canal_season4.html

So, this DVD edition presents the following drawbacks:

1. Episodes The Thirteenth Hole, Quick-Quick Slow Death and The Danger Makers are Cut!!! Like Optimum prints, again.

2. The screen resolution in some scenes of the episodes The Cybernauts and The Thirteenth Hole is even larger than in USA prints that have already been slightly enlarged screen resolution.

3. There is a fading between the scenes in the some episodes that were just as change the frames in the USA and many other old prints.

Well, I have to say, ladies and gentlemen, do not get rid from old Avengers prints with b/w Emma Peel released until 2010 if you have these and you appreciate the content of the material. Wink

Part 2

Today I studied the German DVD edition of Tara King episodes (Teil 1)... Smile

... which I bought together with the Teil 2 (with logo StudioCanal).

Again, when checking the content there was one amazing surprise.

DVD package, cover, disks and menus of Teil 1 are identical to the 2009 edition - that is, Kinowelt logo is indicated on cover, discs and video before the menu, and 2009 release is indicated on the cover and DVDs (see the scans by link below)...

http://steedumbrella.ru/DVD_Germany_season6.html

...- however, when you start watching episodes, you see the prints that were first released by Optimum / StudioCanal in 2010! Shocked Shocked Shocked This is the first time I encounter such a situation.

So, it is really the new German DVD edition (2015), despite the fact that nothing except the episode prints else has been changed.

I scanned the booklet from this edition and posted on Steedumbrella.
For your comfort, I submit it right here at the link below:

http://steedumbrella.ru/files/German%20DVD%20edition%203%20booklet%202009.pdf

I decided not to study these Avengers prints in detail since I will analyze the Optimum prints when I will do the work with the Tara King episodes for posting on Steedumbrella.
