Hi fellow Avengers fans

I think we all agree that Ian Hendry was tragically underrated despite being the mainstay of the first series of The Avengers. To that end I have written a first full-length biography of Ian Hendry which has been favourably reviewed.
The book contains a whole chapter about Ian's contribution to the first series of The Avengers and how the series "evolved" from Police Surgeon. There's also a bit about Ian's contribution to The New Avengers.
There's also a lot about other TV series of the era such as The Lotus Eaters, The Informer, The Adventures of Don Quick and For Maddie with Love as well as other series in which Ian guested such as The Persuaders,
Van der Valk, Supernatural and The Sweeney.
I'm posting this with the official and very kind sanction of Alan.
The book, Send in the Clowns - The Yo Yo Life of Ian Hendry is available to buy as a paperback and as an eBook. http://www.lulu.com/shop/gabriel-hershman/send-in-the-clowns-the-yo-yo-life-of-ian-hendry/paperback/product-20974696.html

Thank you.
I just watched Police Surgeon - the only survivng episode, Easy Money - from the Complete Series Two and Survivng Series One Avengers DVD. Ian Hendry and Michael Crawford are both very good in this interesting little drama. I liked the point when Dr. Brent (Hendry) has to decide whether to tell the police that the suspect (Crawford) has read his newspaper. Being familiar with the three act format of the Avengers episodes, I was caught out when it ended after two and so felt additionally sorry for the young man who has just come round to Brent's advice - that the point at which to draw the line was to 'stay the right side of the law'. It led up to that ending very skillfully through the young man's concern for the old man in the cafe and "having to draw the line'. Really appreciated this second viewing better than my first. It would be interesting to hear any other aspects of this story that seem good. At least there is this one survivng episode. Brent seems very like Keel in the Avengers so I think Hendry deliberately made a continuity there?

good point, tis' a shame that virtually all of the early shows, were probably bulk erased...and hence nothing remains....sad.
