Any idea what year this might be from? Looks to me like mid-late 1960s.

Mid to late 60's definitely, because she quit modelling in '67 when her son was born. _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |

Did she say that she had injections to help lose weight and pills too! How awful! |

She did. And she continued to do so until she discovered she was pregnant with her son, which wasn't until she was four months along, and probably the reason he was so premature. I've heard her looking back on it now and shuddering, wondering what they probably did to her. No need to do that for TNA, though--the exhaustion and workouts were more than enough! _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Yeah she said so in her autobiography, she had to go to the doctor every day to get an injection.
I don't even want to think about the dangers of those injections _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |

Neither does she. I remember reading that her opinion of doctors is rock-bottom because they dropped the ball telling her she couldn't have children, but I don't imagine those helped. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Joanna looked so blowzy on Ab-Fab that it kind of ruined TNA for me for a while. I'm in the process of obtaining the DVDs, though. _________________ <i>Those who don't understand physics are oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

Two radio guys called Adam and Joe are currently competing against each other writing songs about "national treasures". So far, there's one for Stephen Fry and one for Joanna Lumley.

Yes, this is a bit silly but I do like the sound clips from Northern Lights.
Enjoy! |
Rather clever. The sound clips from Joanna makes her sound a bit like Sarah Nixey from the indie band Black Box Recorder. Good find... _________________

What exactly do you mean by blowzy? I'm just asking because I've never heard that word before.. _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |

Thanks for linking those--they were great fun. The Lumley one is quite good, but the Stephen Fry one is funny in a quirky way. I love how Hugh Laurie's name has become "Hugh Laurie from House." Also when they say he's not perfect--he was in Spiceworld, apparently (I'd read Hugh was, but I was never a Spice Girls fan despite being the right age, and half my school being obsessed at the time). Anyway, they picked good subjects--I can't think of anyone more deserving of national treasure status than Stephen and Joanna. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Blowzy: Having a rather sloppy or unkempt appearance.
With the fly-away hair and the constant haze of cigarette smoke, she lost the Purdey look that I was so used to.
I know that was her role, but it ruined my image of Purdey. My fault, not hers. She was very good as Pats. _________________ <i>Those who don't understand physics are oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

Ah I see.
I think she was brilliant both as Purdey and as Patsy _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |

As most of you probably know, I'm an admin over at the Joanna Lumley forum. And right now we're holding a banner competition, and the theme is The New Avengers. After the Christmas competition I noticed there are quite a few talented people over here, so I thought I'd mention our competition here in case people would like to join. You can enter your banners until February 7th.
So if anyone would like to join in, feel free

If you're stuck for something to do at 7.55pm, Tuesday 3rd February you could do worse than tuning to ITV3 and watching 'Agatha Christie's Marple'.
It's 'The Body In The Library', the episode featuring Joanna, of course. |

Joanna will be in the last ever French & Saunders sketch for Comic Relief. They'll be doing a spoof of Mamma Mia.
I am beyond exited for this _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |
