Great! Been looking forward to this. One of my favourite Bonds, too. _________________ Last watched : Intercrime |

Part of the radio cast list of On Her Majesty's Secret Service ...
Toby Stephens ... James Bond
Lisa Dillon ... Contessa Teresa (Tracy) di Vicenzo
Alfred Molina ... Ernst Stavro Blofeld
Joanna Lumley ... Fraulein Irma Bunt
Alex Jennings ... Marc-Ange Draco
John Standing ... ‘M’
Janie Dee ... Miss Moneypenny
Julian Sands ... ‘Q’
Lloyd Owen ... Franklin
Joanna Cassidy ... Ruby
Martin Jarvis ... the Voice of Ian Fleming
Like Diana Rigg's Tracy before her, Lisa Dillon (Tracy) is also a highly acclaimed RSC actress.
Dillon played Honey Rider and Tilly Masterton (infatuated with Pussy) in the Jarvis/Ayres
BBC Radio 4 productions of Dr No and Goldfinger.
Alex Jennings narrated Casino Royale for BBC Radio 4.
Martin Jarvis and Rosalind Ayres have assembled a truly outstanding cast for OHMSS, which is, I think,
Ian Fleming's finest Bond book, and the best Bond film.
This promises to be one of the most exhilarating and poignant radio drama-thrillers in many years.

i would concur with this...it promises to sound so exciting...i cannot wait...and it was a great book..I always wondered how the film would have played with Connery, instead of LAZENBY.... |

Amusing that Joanna Lumley was in both the film version and - promoted to chief villainess - the radio one! _________________ Last watched: The Man in the Mirror. |

Just a quick reminder OHMSS on BBC Radio 4 2.30-4.00pm this afternoon.
Radio Times preview says its a superb adaptation - with Joanna barely recognizable as Irma Bunt -
and Fleming's reference (from being impressed with her Honey in Dr No) to tanned actress Ursula Andress is included.

I thoroughly enjoyable afternoon's listening - a superb adaptation. Toby Stephens is an excellent Bond. I thought Joanna Lumley was fabulous as Irma Bunt: her understated German accent was splendid.
I'd have liked a longer run-time - its one of Fleming's longest Bond novels - perhaps two hours instead of the 90 minutes.
OHMSS is a very difficult book to adapt, especially with flashbacks and flash-forwards at the start. I thought the ski chase was brilliantly handled - loved the music - a clever arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen during the chase.
Lisa Dillon was perfectly lovely as the ill-fated Tracy: she has a wonderfully sexy radio voice, and Alex Jennings and Alfred Molina outstanding as Draco and Blofeld. The production by Ayres and Jarvis was beautifully paced and impressively narrated and directed by Martin Jarvis. I wonder which Bond novel they'll produce next? Casino Royale or maybe Thunderball. I hope this series of wonderful BBC Bond full-cast radio adaptations continues.
I enjoyed it very much indeed. Its one of those enchanting, haunting radio dramas that stays with you long after the broadcast. Christmas would have been the perfect broadcast date.
If anyone missed it - its on BBC iPlayer. Highly recommended. _________________ James/Mrs Emma Peel

Love Khell's avatar Any more photos of Gambit and Purdey from this 'shoot ...and she does look even more 'deadly' than her Purdey days in her leather coat ...she could easily have filled the boots of Purdey for many, many more years than she did [/img] |
