|
|
Hi everyone,
My wife is buying some Avengers DVDs for me for Christmas, just one thing - not sure what to get. The individual box sets or the 50th Anniversary set.
Space isn't an issue, but I like the way the DVDs look on the shelf and could put my Avengers : Lost Episodes or other Avengers books next to them.
As well, I live in Australia - I heard the individual series sets have faulty discs that I may have to send back in order to get the Special features disc that is included in the 50th anniversary set.
Money also isn't the issue here, I'm more asking "What what would you choose if you didn't already have the Avengers on DVD - the individual series sets or the 50th anniversary set?"
Please weigh in. Thanks. |

I've got all the UK sets and the German 50th anniversary set (which also includes The New Avengers, although the latter series has not been remastered).
I like the individual series/seasons sets, and the first one, especially, has a well-produced reproduction of Leonard White (producer's) scrapbook from his time on the series (with tele-snaps from missing episodes, newspaper listings and clippings etc).
The 50th anniversary "book" box is also good (same content, but with the Bonus Disk as well, but you can get that cheaply as it was released separately anyway with a proper DVD cover/case - there isn't really anything on it which is really interesting, anyway). The big box does suffer slightly in that the DVDs are just inserted in the cardboard "pages" and can get scratched when you remove them. They're a tight fit and hard to get in and out.
All the sets are the "fixed" versions now, there shouldn't be any of the un-fixed ones still on sale. _________________ Last watched: The Man in the Mirror.

I'd heard of this problem, so I opted for the 5 individual sets. I waited til they'd been corrected before buying, which if you buy from amazon or play should be the corrected ones. If you're buying from ebay though, I'd ask the seller if they're the corrected ones just in case. I'm very pleased with the quality and they look great on the shelf! Haven't got TNA box set, as I'm waiting for the re-mastered set. It's a long wait Rich. |

Get the set, it's back to 116 on Amazon.co.uk.
Definitely no problem with the episodes in that, I have it.
The only downside is you get pdfs of the original promotional material rather than replica prints. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Thanks for the replies, folks.
I think I am leaning towards the individual sets for the reasons I mentioned.
Thanks again. |

hello , i am writting from italy .
i recently bought the 6thseries of avengers on play.com site .
it was supposed to be the new remastered dvds but once i got them home i saw they looks more like a german release ( the box have german writting on ) . i wanted to take the emma pill episoeds as first , but i think they sent me the right 6th series but from a german release and not the english one .
my question is ... is the german release equal to the english release in terms of video quality and extra contents ?
i was a little bit disappointed cause the box was quite big ...
ohh sorry ... its my first post here ... so thanx in advance for any kind of suggest or answer |

tough choice....but whatever the selection is. you're a winner....I do hate some of the dvd cases, etc...as scratching the discs is too easy...and you end up with freeze frames etc |
