I still don't know! Not much time to post at the moment, I saw the posts in the DMTH thread but wasn't able to reply. Hopefully will do so over the weekend. _________________ "No ma'm, I'm a Texan." |

Hmm, I'm starting to get worried. I had my dispatch notice last Friday too but 8 days later there is still no sign. |

Likewise - no sign here either. I contacted them on Friday and was told that it can take six working days to deliver so I'll give them until Tuesday before I contact them again but they did respond within 10 minutes. I've used them before and haven't had any problems so hopefully it'll have a happy ending. _________________ "No ma'm, I'm a Texan." |

Indeed. The seller seems to have a bit of a disregard for delivery times but at that price I'm prepared to wait.

Watched this episode tonight as Liz Fraser is just brilliant and gorgeous! Noticed that the soundtrack was not well synced at times. Wondered if anyone else had seen this. Some scenes were fine, a handful seemed a second or so out |

I've got the German set, and of the seven episodes I've watched so far, three have had minor audio problems.
For instance, around the thirty minute mark of 'A Sense of History', the sound is weird and echoey for around 30-45 seconds, before returning to normal.
The other two episodes have the same problem for similar durations.
Has anyone else noticed this? |

Most episodes have minor audio issues due to over-processing when the 2010 remasters were made (and these are what have been used). _________________ Alan

I just watched my first episode of the blu ray - Town of no Return - and it is AMAZING. From Saul's torn cap to the pattern on Mrs Peel's stockings, I've noticed so many things that were previously invisible.
Saul on the beach : 2015 Blu ray left, Optimum 2010 DVD right _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Interesting!
From my amateur look at the images, I was drawn to some obvious black squares in the bottom left-hand corner of the Blu-ray image, which are much more blurry in the DVD image. I also noticed the white squares on the cap in comparison the DVD image. A few white squares also appear in the bottom left-hand corner. It looks to me that the image has been edge sharpened quite a bit.
Also I see on the right hand-side of the DVD image the, line of the top edge of the cap has a kink in it. I wonder if a manual repair had to be done on it? If you draw a vertical line downwards from kink, it lines up with a kink along the "bottom" edge of the cap and a tiny amount of "funny" stuff going through most of the grass.
Thanks for the snippits! |

Just for the sake of clarity, Piers, which DVD version is the right hand image taken from? _________________ Alan

Alan, it's from the most recent Optimum/Studiocanal set (the complete set book version)
Disclaimer: DVD capture is not new, I made it when I first obtained the DVDs and used it to illustrate my website then. A true test would be to recapture it, but given that the bluray is full HD (1920x1080) the digitally zoomed DVD capture (1208x896, upscaled from 720x576) doesn't have a chance.
Re the black and white squares I'd say that's mostly real detail, not sharpening.
The image didn't look over sharp when watching the playback, it looked like film (which is what, of course, it is). _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I've started reillustrating my website with captures from the blurays - three episodes so far, all new cast photos and feature images. Feature images for the episodes now number 8 instead of 6, and the large res is bluray resolution, with the side letter boxing removed (1440x1080 or so). _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I would like some points of view.
I have already Optimum season 4 on DVD and I was sent Blu ray test discs of the French version by Studio canal. I don’t find them quite satisfactory. There are still some missing scenes (for instance, Jackson saying : ‘He won’t bother you again’ in THE 13TH HOLE).
I would like to know whether there are any significant differences between Optimum and the UK Blu-ray concerning season 4? About picture quality, sound, extras….I only know that there are English subtitles in option on BR (a good thing for foreigners) which were missing on Optimum. Thanks. _________________ Le Monde des Avengers |

The UK S4 Blu-rays are complete and include the line you mention, Denis.
They are certainly better in terms of picture quality to the UK DVDs and the sound is marginally better as it is presented lossless.
Extras are identical to the UK DVD version with the exception of the colour Touch of Brimstone clip which inexplicably cuts off early (I understand this is complete on the French Blu). _________________ Alan

Just out of interest how are you getting the captures?
My discs play with no problems in a Panasonic player but they won't load at all under Windows 10 (although other Blu-rays are fine).
