Progress!!! Well done, Piers.

And now a real surprise, dear Avengers fans.

Recently, I decided to delve into the study of The Stage newspaper archive again (but for one day) and here is what was found:

note from issue by dated April 4, 1963

It turns out that Polly Perkins, more well-known as british singer of 1960s, most likely appeared in the episode Brief for Murder as one of yoga experts/students.

I analyzed the screenshots from the episode, thanks to Piers, and I think there is only one Polly-like girl (similar nose and face shape). Confused

Below are photos Polly Perkins in early 1960s, where singer is more similar to the person from screenshot above.

Great find, Denis. It occurs to me one of the others is Aleta Morrison:

I'm back in Avengerland on short time, due the pause in my work. After 7 October I will fully here, as I hope. Smile

We continue the theme of identification, ladies and gentlemen, and today the look at several people. Wink

To begin with, I will complete my old identification sheet for The New Avengers series, and after that we'll go in 1960s, to The Avengers. Smile

TNA

1. One of Seminar attendees in episode The Eagle's Nest is...

Malcolm Johns

At first glance it is difficult to identify, but hairstyle of person is important clue here. Exactly Malcolm Johns has this type of face, thick brows and wore such a hairstyle in the mid-1970s.

Malcolm in Sweeney! (1975)

and in Sweeney (1976)

The black long neat sideburns, gray hair is closed over them. The actor also wore a forelock on the right side of the forehead at this time.

2. and again, episode The Eagle's Nest.

Now the identification of a well-known person.

One of Nazis, (no, not real) in episode.

Rocky Taylor

I always thought this face familiar and after that, as I recently studied British stuntmen in the 1970s, the solution came to the answer.

------------------------------------------------------

The Avengers

And today we will look at the episode Warlock.

As is known, several extras and a special dance troupe were invited for episode, on the last of which was made the main accent in the ritual scenes.

Dance troupe included:

Bill Haydn
Anna Sharkey
Roy Gunson
Maggie Lee
Fred Evans
Gillian Bowden
Pat Spencer
Philip Mosca

While we know as looks Pat Spencer and Philip Mosca (they are in credits of episode and plays characters with names), there is a riddle for the rest.

I decided to try find out about these dancers and studied some photo stuff in researches.

Number 1

Person on screenshot above is definitely Anna Sharkey.

Below, Anna Sharkey during rehearsals for the play 'What Goes Up', at the New Theatre Royal, Stratford, London, September 13th 1963.

Apart from the type of face, she has an interesting eyebrow style. This coincides in both photos.

Number 2

I analyzed the photos of Gillian Bowden and the person above from the episode Warlock is most like her.

Fresh finding, now we knows who played one of villagers in episode Murdersville. Smile

I suspect Piers may already know about it, since the next mention of this actor (in a new light) was recently on Britmovie. Wink

William Gossling (sometimes credited as Bill Gossling or Bill Gosling)

Indeed, it was a photo from one of my Spotlights that IDed Bill in the first place. I'm working on a slow update at the moment, using face recognition software, and it has thrown up a couple of IDs (like Jean Marsh the other day).

Here is how - Jean Marsh!!!
Greatest news. Razz
Piers, what exactly you are using the software for it? Wink Well, this would was interesting to read about it on the Internet if I find it. Smile

Great work on the dancers there, I've been trying to identify them for years.

I'm sure I had already spotted Malcolm Johns somewhere else but now can't find him in my notes.

I hope we will identify the other dancers over time. Wink
Sadly, Piers, I did not see any pictures with Bill Haydn and Maggie Lee. As for Fred Evans and Roy Gunson, I was only able to find late photos. Sad

Yes, for first time Malcolm Johns was spotted in the episode Who's Who??? before. Wink

I know.. Fred has a big nose if that helps. I found Monty Python to be no use (and outdated, boring comedy to boot).

I'm using Picasa & digiKam at the moment. Fotobounce is supposed to be good but I didn't play with it long enough to say.

Actually, I think this is Fred, seems to match his Fierce Creatures picture.

Exactly, Piers, but even despite Fred's big nose, hard to come to the result. Sad I like some of Monty Python's sketches, but I agree, many of them are outdated now.
I recently watched the sketch Ministry of Silly Walks, where Daphne Davey (who appeared as extra in Avengers episode Concerto) played Mrs. Two-lumps. Even though her character wears glasses in the sketch, there can to see her face in separate moments, however again I did not come to any result for desired ID. Confused

I read earlier about Picasa, but never heard about Fotobounce. I will look for curiosity. What programm was the most supportive for you, Piers? Wink

Yes, I have the same feeling for these two.
Moreover, must admit, when I look at the picture below, I always think that this is Joe Dunne. Confused
Do you have the same feelings, Piers?

(Footman from Escape in Time)
