Slightly confused by the Filed Marshall today. Watching the episode the initial shots of it feature it with both sides having the 'key lock' feature, you see them from the left side and then the right as the two officials talk over it. However immediately after that in the long shot (and in all subsequent shots) the left side is plain black ? I rewound the scene and noticed that the green triangle key lock is on the right of the box in the shot from the left and on the left of the box in the shot from the right, I assume then that you are seeing the same side of the box in both shots. Undoubtedly they had only bothered to detail one side of the Field Marshall and that the box was turned round between shots to give the impression that the detailing was on both the left and right. They obviously didn't bother with all the following shots or simply forgot to do it Smile Boring stuff I suppose, but you, it interested me Wink
Not boring at all. When TA was first broadcast it was magical. I suppose part of that magic is the mystery of how it was done. Now that we know that the cybernaut we were looking at had a stocking over its head and other quirks, it becomes more real, perhaps a bit less mysterious. But I think it makes one curious as to why. A lot has been investigated about all sorts of bloopers on TA, but I think you might be the first Ian, to discover bloopers regarding props. Something no one has ever questioned before.

Is there anyone still alive from the prop dept? Would have been interesting to find out their secrets. Wonder if Mike knows more?

A little bit more work carried out on the Field Marshall today. Cut and fitted the green, red & black acrylic symbols, the dial and the metallic back plate.

Plus the stuff finally arrived so I can start work on my Broadcast Power Unit from The Positive Negative Man Very Happy

Very Happy I can't decide whether to go for the basic thingumajg box, the one from Tara's flat with the electrical plugs on it, or the partially destroyed one seen in the final scene, the latter two being a bit more interesting to look at. Either way I'm going to make it remote controlled so it moves across the floor Wink

The front and rear panels to the Marshall..

A tedious, headache inducing task, recreating the medal ribbons on the laptop....

Finished, gawd that wasn't in the least bit enjoyable ! But better that than doing it with felt tip pens as they did on the original I suppose.

Well I thought I'd finished until I just spotted an error Rolling Eyes

Getting there ...

Ah ! Just noticed that as well as a screw top and bottom at the front and rear panels there are also four small screws on the top of the unit one at each corner.

Just the front and rear emblems left to make now Smile Oh and I may create the 'activation key' that hangs around that guys neck too.

I have no idea what the purpose is, or what to do with all this stuff Laughing I could take it all along to a Sci Fi convention I suppose Confused

I'm not surprised you found that tedious - the medals are:

Victoria Cross, George Cross, GCB, Order of Merit, DSO
OBE, Waterloo Medal(!!), Military Cross, then random nonsense after that...

No electrical charge detected as yet, maybe once the paint has dried to a matt finish and it's had another good sand down Smile Pretty boring prop, but once it's been fitted with a remote control and a sound chip hopefully it'll be more interesting. Part of me wants to cut the top open and reveal the wires like the one Steed carries out from the dig and the end of Thingumajig, and then part of me wants to leave it as a plain box Confused
