Thank you very much for posting. Any word on extras?

Not yet! Very Happy

Keep me posted--you're my source! Wink

Audio commentary by Brian Clemens and Gareth Hunt („The Eagle’s Nest“), Avenging the Avengers, The New Avengers – filmed introduction with Oliver Kalkofe (that's a big Avengers fan in Germany), original TNA trailer for introducing TNA in 1976, german opening credits

I wish there would be so many extras like the Optimum release of the Avengers! Crying or Very sad Very Happy

Thank you! Very Happy Recycling some of the old Optimum release, I see (the commentary). The only bit which looks interesting is the trailer--anyone seen that before?

The trailer was also on the recently released Tara King boxset. I like it very much! The trailer is about 4 minutes and you can see a longer part of the screentests from Purdey (only a few seconds).

Really? I'll bear that in mind. Do you know if it's a vintage trailer or created especially for the DVDs?

It's certainly a vintage trailer. They use a concorde of British Airways to show how modern TNA are. Laughing
The airplane is a British Airways Concorde G-BOAC, which was delivered to British Airways in 1976.

The trailer consists excerpts from "The Eagle's Nest", the screentest of Purdey and the airplane and a man in the background who is presenting everything.

That sounds like fun. Not sure if I want to buy a whole new DVD set just for it, though. Laughing

Yes, that's all right! If you want here is the link to the boxset:
http://www.kinowelt.de/dvd/mit_schirm_charme_und_melone-edition_4

I must declare that they don't list the trailer and the german opening titles on the site. I don't know why, but I'm sure that it will include those extras. Because the trailer and the opening titles were also on the previous Avengers boxsets of Kinowelt. Very Happy

Thanks for the link! Very Happy I've amended my site update and added the link (it's here in case you want to have a look), and I've given you a credit. Like I said, you're my source. Wink

I find it interesting to see what they chose to highlight as Patrick, Gareth, and Joanna's other credits. Bond and The Howling for Patrick. Fair enough. Doctor Who for Gareth, but A Chorus of Disapproval? Not Upstairs, Downstairs? Joanna's is even stranger--they give her The Pink Panther and Eurotrip of all things. Patsy who? Laughing

Kinowelt chose to highlight those films because they released those films with Patrick, Joanna and Gareth on DVD.

And thanks for giving me a credit! Very Happy

Ah, I see. A little cross-promotion going on there, eh? Wink

And the credit is well-deserved. I wouldn't have the foggiest idea this was coming out at all otherwise. Very Happy

French and German. You could make yourself multilingual in the process. Wink Thanks for the update. Very Happy

Looks lovely, although that's hardly a surprise with Kinowelt, who have produced beautiful looking designs for the original series.

Sorry that my educated guess about the lack of remastering was correct. I wish I was wrong...

What are the special features on this edition? (My own copy is somewhere between Germany and the UK at the moment, so can't yet tell!)

Thanks for the picture, SteedMonk! And I'd love some shots of the trailer, yes please! That's the part of the set I'm most interested in. Very Happy

Special features:

Audio commentary by Brian Clemens and Gareth Hunt („The Eagle’s Nest“), Avenging the Avengers, The New Avengers – filmed introduction with Oliver Kalkofe (that's a big Avengers fan in Germany), original TNA trailer for introducing TNA in 1976, german and french opening credits, trailers of the previous editions (you can find them here: http://www.kinowelt.de/trailer.php?buchstabe=M&id=3042, http://www.kinowelt.de/trailer.php?buchstabe=M&id=3163, and http://www.kinowelt.de/trailer.php?buchstabe=M&id=3429)

Here some screenshots of the trailer:

It was quite difficult to choose the pictures, because the trailer has some really great scenes! I chose pictures, that you might haven't seen, because many of the scenes are from "The eagles nest"!

Whoo! Very Happy Thank you so, so much for these. I've seen photos of the down the tube shots before--they were meant to be a set of opening credits that was never used--but it's great to see some different shots of them for a change. And more of the infamous screentest as well! With Joanna facing off against a stuntman (I assume) this time, oddly enough, which is how Dave Rogers described it years ago in one of his books (the problem was he was talking about the opening credits, and Gareth was the one rushing through the door that time). No sign of Gareth in the test, though. Or is that guy one of the other prospects for Gambit? I know Gareth screentested with at least one other girl besides Joanna. Must do some checking. Thanks again for these! Very Happy
