Does anyone have any information on these ? Were they mass produced in the late 1960s as some of the 'Emmapeelers' were ? They were apparently bought in the 80's at a flea market in Slough by a vintage shoe collector. Fairly well made, but with no identifying labels. A licensed, or even unlicensed, commercially available item ? Or, possibly the only known surviving pair of Emma Peel's boots ?

Ian

The British Bata Shoe Co Ltd were responsible for footwear in the 1967 Avengers Pack that was available to buy in high street outlets. I've been unable to find any further details.

Ah, then that's the answer, mystery solved, thanks. I used to own a few of the Kashmoor 'Emmapeelers' back in the day, but I was unaware that footwear had also been available to buy on the high street. Thanks Mike Smile

.... Apparently this style of boot was never mass produced as part of the commercially available Avengers fashion range. These seem to be the ones worn by Emma in 'From Venus With Love'. They have an identical curve on the back heel, flat black sole, zip, same front curvature,... but it's been 50 years so who knows ??

They certainly look real to me. I thought the Bata range were Steed's rather than Emma's - like their other tie-ins, school shoes with a compass in the heel - but I confess I have no knowledge in this area.

I don't own the boots myself, but they look pretty authentic to me too Piers. What I have been told is that these were never sold on the high street as part of the fashion range, and that probably explains why no examples, photos or info has ever turned up over the years in the way that the Kashmoor Emmapeelers have. With the exception of Emma's white lace dress from 'Honey For The Prince' (which was mass produced and does have a label), and there was always a question mark over the catsuit worn by Fiona Bruce, I don't know of any other example of Emma Peel's wardrobe that still survives. Quite, quite amazing, I would have probably remortgaged my house for these back in the early 90's Very Happy Dave Rogers did own one of Emma's watches used in the series I believe, but it was only ever worn by Cyd Child apparently and not Diana Rigg.

Although there are various photographs of the clothing of the John Bates Avengers Pack on line, I was unable to find anything regarding footwear.

Diana wore the large Jean Varon watches in several of the colour episodes.

It does seem that no Avengers footwear (at least relating to Emma Peel) ever went on general sale Mike.
