Personally I've always found this sole series of reunion shots both fascinating and unfortunate at the same time. A strange mix of class and tacky in a single shot. And Patrick always looks a little uncomfortable to me, as though he's smiling through gritted teeth, with Diana appearing rather distant.

Ian

The press launch of the Contender VHS video releases, which I think I'm correct in saying was the only time Patrick, Honor, Diana and Linda, were ever in the same place at the same time. There used to be a video on You Tube at the reception, where you could also spot Simon Oates, Sue Lloyd, Brian Clemens, Patrick Cargill (close friend of Macnee), actor Nicholas Grace (friend of Honor Blackman) and I think Leonard White was there too. Mingling in the crown were Annette Hill (proof reader of my two books) wearing her black and white sixties dress, Tony McKay, who was the editor of Time Screen magazine and became the founder of the Avengerland locations website and another friend Chris Gabb.

Many thanks for this Purrr, some really good videos on here with an Avengers connection. I have a very old, worn VHS copy of the Lumiere party, so it is nice to have this in this format. Cheers!

Thanks for the link.

Looking at it again I see that Fenella Fielding, Barry Morse and Richard Bates were also there.

Yes, Barry Morse is one of those interviewed in "The Avengers: The Journey Back" unreleased video. Several others including Simon Oates and Sue Lloyd (who starred together in the Avengers stage play) were interviewed at the Lumiere party and they are included on this video. This video was, of course, meant to be released in 1998, to tie-in with the movie release but was cancelled, no doubt due to the failure of the movie. Such a shame as it included many interviews. It was intended to be a 90 minute overview of the series with newly recorded material added including a specially shot intro and linking narration by Patrick Macnee.

An incomplete version can still be found here:

Great video. Such a pity that the Documentary was never released in it's entirety, I watched it with a tinge of sadness, hard to believe that Patrick is no longer here. I remember purchasing (for a very hefty sum) the original piece of artwork commissioned by Sovereign Multimedia in 1998 that was to be used as the promotional illustration to accompany the advertising for the release, and that would have subsequently been reproduced and included with the DVD as a fold out poster. It came with the copyright and intellectual properties, meaning it couldn't be reproduced anywhere in any form without my express permission. That still makes me laugh, as, oddly, it's the only thing that survived from my days of collecting, largely due to the fact that nobody wanted it, I literally couldn't give it away, and I tried Laughing
