Yes, the second one is Wilson, a contact of Steed's who is murdered by the assassin in the episode, Benson.

The case is moving forward. Wink I have to admit, at the moment, I have never watched any of the reconstruction of the early Avengers episodes.

Harrumph, I've just read the script for One for the Mortuary and while it only mentions two detectives (Dubois and one other, although Dubois is not named), the telesnaps seem to show two detectives, ones with hat and sunglasses, the other in a trenchcoat.

Here's the other one:

Fortunately, the silly scene where Steed pretends to be an over the top Swiss hotel employee delivery laundry seems to have been replace by him simply burst in and holding the police at gunpoint to get Keel away from them.

Also, having read the script, I now have names for all the cast except the two detectives. I'm going to have to read all the other scripts now!

(And one of the victims is Wilson again, so I'm removing the less clear picture).

In turn, I post a photograph of Anthony Mayne from that 1967 newspaper article. It's a pity that the actor's shot is fuzzy, but we can get some idea about the image of Anthony from second half of 1960s. Smile Looks like he could be that other one (in a trenchcoat).

well...sometimes, what was written for the script, and what ends up being filmed, is two different things...or scenes-dialogue get altered..

Anthony is definitely the one in the hat and sunglasses, the other one is too lantern jawed to be the jowly Anthony Mayne.

That picture of ANTHONY, being blurry...sorta looks like Ray Millard..circa late 40's early 1950's....

But this one with dark glasses has a puffier face. Although we don't know what Anthony looked like in 1961. Confused

There are some similarities. A sort of type for diverse roles.

I would bet on him being heavier rather than suddenly buff. The other guy looks a bit like Tom Adams. (Not that it is, he may be the actor who was Slievermann in "Mr Teddy Bear" or one of the reporters in "The Sell-Out")

It is not excluded. Nevertheless, we still have one point on which we both agree - that is, I think if you point out in a note on the One for the Mortuary episode page of your website that Anthony Mayne as a Swiss detective was in, it will be true. Wink

Thanks, Piers. I noticed this update earlier. Indeed, she looks very similar - most likely Veronica is.

By the way, Piers, what do you think of the following:

"Episode The Hidden Tiger.

Thanks to such a good and clear picture, ladies and gentlemen, I think that the driver in glasses is Alan Stuart. Interesting..."

She has a photo in FAA magazine which is a dead ringer for her appearance in Two's a Crowd, there is no question it's her.

Yes, I've already been told that might be Alan. I'll check it out on the blurays to see.

I only saw her photographs in the newspapers, where she sometimes looked different, which confused me.

1966

1967

Looks I opened a new page on Steedumbrella titled Faces. Very Happy
