That was an excellent episode of Special Branch, but only makes sense when watched as part of the story arc between Derren Nesbitt and Sandra Bryant's (opposing sides of the Iron Curtain) characters.
Forgot Anne Curthoys was in it; she's excellent in 1970s daytime soapy-drama "Rooms", which I got addicted to on Talking Pictures TV recently! _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

British newspaper Herald Express reported on 3 September 1977 that Reg Luscombe (actor who worked as tenant landlord at the Clarence Hotel in Torquay, Torbay) had appeared in The Avengers.
Reg's stage name was Doel Luscombe.

Very interesting, but some actors ended up on the cutting room floor (Penelope Keith in Something Nasty in the Nursery for instance). Some actors were hired as doubles in rehearsals or never finally cast, wouldn't put it beyond actors/actresses and agents to pad resumes with a "white lie" about that.
Could she have a the 50,000 pound cigar party by the way? |

Top guy's ears look bigger or more sticky-out... also a bit thinner but that might not matter (passing of time); nose, cheekbones and 'tache (possibly false) are a good match. Yes, the second seems heavier-set than our man.
He might of course be an unphotographed extra from a season 1 story. _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, apologies if so.
In Act 1 of "Girl on the Trapeze" Carol is watching tv and the announcer you hear sounds a lot to me like Shaw Taylor. I see there is no credit but I discovered that Shaw was working for ATV at the time, fronting a couple of quiz shows. Has this role been identified? Has anyone else noticed the similarity?

I think you're right, Franky. I'm pretty sure this porter is Douglas Cooper.

Yes, those peaked caps make it very hard to see their eyes (in shadow). It'd be much easier if their eyes were plainly visible! Could be worse, I suppose they might've worn sunglasses... _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

British newspaper The Advertiser (Alderley & Wilmslow Advertiser) reported on 25 August 1977 that Elaine Duffett had appeared in The Avengers.
A look at Elaine from mid-1960s:

Possible matches for Elaine:
Less likely:
Probably not:
OR, we've mis-identified her already and she's another character. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!
