The topic related to the people who have not been mentioned in any Avengers books, special websites, etc. (as far as I know).

Let's start with the most interesting. Wink

Syd Wragg (credited as Sid Wragg in the films)

Karate teacher and adviser, actor

He taught Gareth Hunt how to fight Karate as Mike Gambit in TNA, as well as Joanna Lumley as Purdey (Wragg recalled that, being her first major TV role, Lumley was very shy at first).

It is possible that he appeared as an extra somewhere in the TNA. Wink

This was the role through which he became well known. Wink

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony Klinger

Writer, filmmaker, production executive, director, and academic.

Worked as Third Director Assistant on The Avengers in second half 1960s. In different interviews he refers to the different points - in ones he says that he worked in the series when he was 16 years old - that is, 1966 (born 29 January 1950) - others he says: 17 years old. According to the fact that Mike Richardson's book does not mention him in documents for 1967, I think it should be 1966. Maybe the first color episodes? Confused

Thanks to Ray Warren...

...for the yesterday information in the Avengerians group on Facebook:

Brian Osborne

Camera Grip.

Ray Warren:

Met Brian Osborne at the weekend, he was a Camera Grip and worked at Elstree Studios on many productions, including The Avengers.
Told me he was part of the crew that shot the opening titles with Pat and Diana during one weekend and that they used real champagne.
Also said on one episode, the director wanted a shot, they required a camera to be attached to a Bentley (guessing Steeds) and the owner gave them permission to drill two holes in the bonnet, to fix the camera to it! He's 93 and still remembers a lot, was great to talk to him.

Moreover, stuntman Paul Weston (double for Patrick Macnee) commented:
I remember Ozzie very well. He was an important part of the Studio team and great to work with. God bless him.

Smile Excellent material.

Bill Launder

General manager of Elstree Studios (from 1968 to 1970) and production controller.

Bill is a man with glasses in the pic below:

He worked as an assistant production controller on TV series The Avengers, The Saint and others.

Moreover, Patrick Macnee gave him his famous pistols from John Steed's flat. These pistols adorn Bill' home. Smile

Synopses would suggest that all his script ideas were rejected so we can't count him as a crew member.

That's a nice picture to see, these people helped made The Avengers possible, yet never get credit.

That's not Syd, that's René Auberjonois. Did you attach the wrong image?

Many thanks, Piers. Yes, really. I attached it from the website where it was stated that this is Sуd. At that time I could not find photos to compare. There is no clear image on Aveleyman and there is only one on Muviedude from Sweeney 2. As his role in Sweeney 2 was uncredited, I was not sure that I could trust this image.

Another problem is that I walk on the international Internet through the Runet, which in recent years has been limited to access to various websites.
The use of VPNs and etc for access to sites that do not open through the Runet are prohibited in Russia. Even so, I have other tricks on how to go to some of these resources, but nevertheless some of the sites are still inaccessible. So I have limitations and I can’t find the information I need that can available on the Internet somewhere long ago.

Recently I noticed another problem. Part of your site, Piers, has stopped working for me. For example, the search engine of your site simply ceased to produce any results for me, so I can not see the images in the database of actors, etc.

Sadly, I recently focused on Stuart Myers,

as I think he played somewhere in the Avengers or TNA. I wanted to check out the extras on your site and realized that I can only watch the images through the episode pages. This is a very long work. Moreover, even in this case, one or two images in each episode page for uncredited performers on your site cannot be opened for me. Sad

You mean this?
https://www.dissolute.com.au/the-avengers-tv-series/guides/castfinder.html

It's all self-contained javascript so I can't see how it would be blocked.

The search box in the top corner, however, is a separate site (freefind.com) so it's possible the powers that be have blocked it.

Stuart Myers is not in my list at all so he can only be in my unknowns.

He might be in Obsession:

And is this Douglas Cooper again?

Yes, it is difficult to say why I can see most of the images on your site, but not all as before, but it is quite possible that the reason is in freefind.com. Well, maybe something will change for the better in the coming weeks, if not, I will try to come up with something to solve my problem again.

I found pic of Stuart through Muviedude (in recent weeks, it was standard practice for me - I looked at the images there, and then checked on your site).

Looks like Stuart in Obsession, but in order to be sure, in coming days I will watch all or almost all frames with this extra in TNA episode.

No, this is not Douglas Cooper on this screenshot from series TNA.

David Charles Withers

Withers worked with the influential TV and film production and distribution outfit for more than 30 years, overseeing production, post production, publicity, foreign versions, release prints and distribution.

Withers started in the British film industry in 1944 as a production runner. He then became a sound editor, where he worked on films including “Alfred Hitchcock’s “Stage Fright.”

When ATV, later known as ITC, launched in 1955, Withers moved to Britain’s fledgling TV industry, coordinating operations between producers and the broadcasters.

Under Lew Grade, he teamed with Bernard Kingham to launch ITC’s production business, working on shows such as “The Avengers,” “The Saint,” “The Prisoner” and “The Muppets.”

David's participation in The Avengers is also mentioned by the newspaper Midweek Observer and Gazette dated by 24 June 1969.

I cleared the CDN cache as I noticed a few failing in series 2 as well.
