Hi all
Recently, I saw the series 5 (Colour Emma) Blu-Ray box set in CEX. I didn't pick it up this time, but
What problems exist with this set? I didn't buy the Optimum box of series 5 due to pitch problems etc, but did the same issues exist on the Blu-Ray set?
What would be everyone's advice?
Thanks,

I waited until Canal got it right with the dvd box set for series 5 which eventually happened with version 3 (V3 was numbered on the dvd itself.) I haven't got the blu rays yet, but haven't heard of any issues. |

One member here noted a sound synchronisation issue on "Mission...Highly Improbable". I haven't found this so it may/may not be player related. Another member noted that on series 4 bluray, on ep. "Silent Dust" a white vertical line appears briefly twice. Apart from this, and one member stating that the blu ray releases are not "flawless", from what i have read, the blu ray releases are considered fine, and definitely better than anything released before.
i have held off from buying series 4& 6 (just had to have series 5 on blu ray! -personal choice) as i am happy with the Optimum DVD releases (the corrected ones!!!) and the later Australian DVD releases with the bonus 50th convention material, for now. Members here have mentioned that the original series Cybernauts episodes on the trilogy blu ray are a definite improvement on the previous blu rays, as Network did a new restoration. I certainly agree with this on "Return..." but cannot compare series 4. i do think that if Network ever do an original series set of releases-even though i have mentioned i don't want to buy the series yet again- l would be very tempted because of the Cybernauts release. if not then the current ones I don't have will suit me at a later date.

Hi Ron
Thanks for that.
Interestingly, series 4 was there on Blu-Ray too, but for the moment I'm quite happy with the Optimum DVDs. As I said, I didn't pick up series 5 with its issues, so still have the Contender DVDs and was looking to upgrade.
I do have the Cybernauts trilogy from Network, and I must admit they are gorgeous. Perhaps if Network do redo them after TNA I might be tempted.
I did pick up the Series 6 Blu-Ray from CEX a few months ago - I could tell a difference from the DVDs, so maybe I'll look out and see if they are still there the next time I go. Weren't cheap though. Series 5 was more expensive than 4, and again more than series 6 I paid for, even with its higher episode count. Perhaps that is the perceived value of Emma Peel in colour over anything else....

I so agree about the Emma Peel colour eps. In the US that's the only blu ray they've had-and that apparently had pitch error poor guys. (We've really been lucky here, what with the bonus features too!) And of course what blu ray do i make sure i get-Emma colour eps!! When the whole series was shown recently on Cozi TV, a US classic TV cable channel, apparently the Emma colours always hit the peak of viewership. No surprise i guess!

it would be nice if someone in the States, would step up and release the Blu-ray editions...since A & E, isn't interested, or no longer has the license to do so.... |

Hi tigerman, Lionsgate have the American franchise at the moment (I know this because they tried to claim ownership of all my Youtube clips)
Their "bluray" release is just the DVD masters, not upscaled to 1080 or anything. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Exactly....few yrs ago, Liongate (U.S.) put out the complete Emma series..but there was no upgrade..(except for pkg graphics) it was simply the olde A & E dvd set....minus any special items..
So putting out a ' blu-ray ' would be counter productive..until the original masters were prepared ..and I simply believe there's NOT ENOUGH interest for a American release...unless I am wrong...
myself, would love to see this happen...all previous glitches fixed, etc..
one can dream.. |

i believe current U.S. licensing belongs to U.S. Lionsgate. and there's not much interest in coming out with remastered versions on blu-ray, etc....the last U.S. issue was the complete EMMA PEEL ...which was basically a re released of the old A & E Emma set... |
