Very sad news. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/breaking-honor-blackman-dead-94-21823184?fbclid=IwAR1_ybrgTzaC3mAD_cJAvd8ds_5ePmn3F6MZ8jO5izurOkzPz1LbsLMghsE

I hadn't heard from her in a few years, I was surprised not to do so when Patrick Macnee died and Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson commented on it. I thought she'd live forever. She nearly did!

I have to admit, I have not had time to rehabilitate myself after the news about Roger Marshall, whom for many years I considered a special person, and now ... Shocked Shocked Shocked This is a very big blow for the whole Avengerland, James Bond fans and many other fans of quality film and television productions. Grieve and remember. Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad I'am shocked!!!

Honor was a very bright and strong personality - well recalled in many TV and film works (Honor was loved in the USSR mainly due to her participation in the film The Sqare Peg).

Honor was the first performer of any main Avengers characters I have ever seen on screen. This was long time before I found out about the existence of the series The Avengers. My mother brought a video cassette with the movie Goldfinger and we watched it at home - this was time when the film was banned for showing on large and small screens in the USSR. I later became Honor Blackman fan when I saw the movie The Square Peg (and this was still before I seen Honor portraying Cathy).

Very very very sad. Crying or Very sad

2020 brings us a lot of unpleasant surprises. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Very sad to hear the news about the beautiful, talented and spirited Honor Blackman.

What a long life and varied career - success in so many different spheres: film, television, comedy and theatre.

I was only wondering last week how she was.

Steed has another partner to accompany him on the other side.

RIP, Honor, and thanks for all the fun.

I think Mrs Gale will be on my screen this evening.

Very sad news about Honor. She was a pioneer, the very first woman to star in my favourite tv series of all time. To die at 94 from natural causes at home and surrounded by her family is a fitting end for this lovely lady. RIP Honor.

Official obituary from Russia:

https://fakty.com.ua/ru/showbiz/20200406-pomerla-brytanska-aktrysa-honor-blekman/

British actress Honor Blackman dies.

The star of British cinema, Honor Blackman, died in the 95th year of life for natural reasons.

Family of actress assured that she had no signs of the coronavirus Covid-19.

The Woman died in her home in Lewis, East Sussex.

Honor Blackman's family called her “the best mother and grandmother who combined beauty, a bright mind and valor”.

Honor Blackman was one of the most demanded British actresses in the 1950s.

Great popularity came to her after the role of Cathy Gale in the popular British television series 1960s The Avengers.

Exactly the success of this series prompted the producers to invite Honor Blackman to the role of Pussy Galor, the James Bond girl in the third film called Goldfinger.

Very sad news.
So very glad I saw her live at a James Bond Anniversary concert at the Sage in Gateshead in 2011.
Honor narrated the concert with verve, panache and humour for the entire programme which lasted over 2 hours.
She mentioned The Avengers saying she did all her own stunts, to which she received thunderous applause.

Honor played two of the most iconic characters in television and film history - Dr. Catherine Gale The Avengers and Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.

A lovely, kind, incredibly glamorous lady.
RIP Honor Blackman

Sad news, but a blessed age, 94!

Most headlines mention her James Bond part with her Avengers role of Cathy Gale overlooked. A wonderful charterer, intellectually and morally strong, stylish and amiable. This gave a great chemistry with John Steed and set the Avengers on the path from being A TV series to one of the pinnacles in TV history. Some other memorable parts as well of course and always proud of and willing to talk about her Avengers contribution.

Even though we have lost greats like Brian Clemens and Ian Hendry (long ago) this feels as the biggest loss since the passing of Patrick Macnee.

Oh, dear, lovely Honor Sad

I've thought of her a few times recently. I didn't know she liked barely a few miles from me.

94 is a good age. Bless her.

I recall that it was mentioned that she was enjoying her retirement.

She was ground breaking. Diana Rigg may have taken the limelight due to more exposure (not to discredit her), Honor was the first, the original, the paradigm shifter.

RIP Amazing Classy Lady xxxxxx

Good morning everybody,

I have just heard the terribly saddening news that Honor has left us.

I want to thank everyone for those lovely messages already written about her and Honor, i shall certainly raise a glass to you this evening whilst watching you in The Avengers.

May you rest in eternal peace and thank-you for everything you have done in life and all the hearts you have touched.

The fondest memories remain.

God Bless you!

Dominic.

The loss of an absolute icon. Cathy Gale influenced every leather clad fighting female TV and film character that followed her. Saw Honor at The Avengers 50th Anniversary event held at the University of Chichester years ago, where she spoke how Cathy Gale came about and shared a panel with Leonard White and they were later joined by Julie Stevens. She was great in other roles too such as her appearances Goldfinger, Doctor Who, A Twist of Sand, To the Devil and Daughter and Jason and the Argonauts.

This is very sad news - the loss of an icon, the loss of a goddess, the loss of a strong woman, the loss of a queen, the loss of a superb actor, the loss of a shining beacon of the Socialist cause.

Farewell, Honor, we were not worthy of you.

Honor Blackman is featured on Radio 4's "The Last Word" which is has just been on, and should be on the "BBC Sounds" player soon.
