In our country "The Avengers" do not let out on DVD and VHS, only on the TV showed 10-15 years ago. With Russian sound track there are no series. I have 4 season with Russian subtitles, and 5 season - without subtitles, even English is not present. When I read English texts, I almost understand all, and when I listen to speech almost I understand nothing. It is a very pity, so much humour passes by. Crying or Very sad Perhaps, somebody knows, where it is possible to download English subtitles by 5 season?

PS: Please, do not hesitate to correct my errors when I absolutely awfully write Embarassed

I understood every word.

I only wish I could answer your question.

In Russia, how do they explain Steed fighting in the cold war environment? The Correct Way To Kill for example, where Russia is 'the other side'?

Cold war is was so a long time, I and my friends were born after it, studied only at school at history lessons. And still, the same cinema, instead of a real life, it is possible to include and enjoy simply Rolling Eyes

And, yes - very amusing to look, how represent Russian in foreign films. They are called always by Ivan or Andrey, or Anya-Tanya-Olga, they very strange conduct themselves and speak Russian with strong accent. Shocked Laughing Actually the probability to meet such people at us is no more, than to meet in streets of London Steed and Emma. And ~30 years nobody "tovarishch" addresses to each other Wink

Yes, it is sad that the DVDs which were available in the UK only had subtitles on the colour Emma Peel episodes (seasons 5 and 6).

Did the American DVDs have subtitles for other eras of the show?

I have the French sets for Season 2 (Cathy Gale etc), and both seasons of The New Avengers, which obviously contain French subtitles as an option. That would only be useful if you understand French!

Yesterday I've been looking online for you, but so far I've only managed to find English subtitles for the film.
It seems quite difficult to find English subtitles, or perhaps I have been looking in the wrong places.
I'll try to look for them a bit more later on.

Really? You have a link where it is possible to buy these DVDs with subtitles?

They were made by "Contender Entertainment Group" back in 2001, but the were deleted some years ago and aren't available in the shops any longer. You may be able to find them second-hand from a previous owner, on Ebay or Amazon. There were four sets, with 2 disks in each set. 8 disks in total. Each of the four boxes was titled:

1967: files one and two
1967: files three and four
1967: files five and six
1967: files seven and eight
