Oh, nice! Yes it's a bit like imdb's provision of synopses and summaries for various films, but easier to use. Your full plot details are definitely like a synopsis, making it easy to follow the story. Good idea, as sometimes when browsing one just needs a quick reminder of the essentials to remember a story one has watched, but the detail is good for when I haven't seen something for ages (or at all).
Madoc worked at an embassy in Vienna I believe, due to his skill with languages, so if he wasn't himself a practitioner of espionage, he certainly knew many people who were. A perfect fit for Steed's world! _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

Thanks, it's been added to series 3 as well, along with the in-line cast photos. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I've now added the plot summaries and pop-up in-plot cast photos to series 5 and 6.
I found I still had a copy of my early plot summaries from the beginning of this century so slotted them back in. It's like we're back in 2002, reading them again.
They still need a proper rewrite and the introduction of the quote boxes, scripts, etc. (Although the scripts we have for them are mostly just dialogue sheets).
Series 4, The New Avengers, and the 1998 film will be updated when I can. Let me know if you see something I've broken, but I didn't notice anything myself.
Oh, and Facebook has unpublished my The Avengers page, so no updates there until ... the end of never? _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

| Gosh, if only we were. Back when there was still hope! Actually scratch that, I wouldn't want to live through the last twenty years again. They were not a patch on my first twenty.
And Facebook is dire. I've practically left it, including all my groups I set up. _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

I dunno..the last 20-25 yrs, hasn't been that bad...then again, depending on one's yard stick...how they measure things...techology has gotten better..from wi-fi, internet, to smaller and more powerful cell phones ...as for TV/cable, again, it would boil down to one's viewing tastes..
and yeah, facebook is sucking hard..getting far too negative and preachy..but that's just my opinion...of course, there's always the lure of new sites like MEWE...etc..after all, remember when MySPACE was the top dog of social media...and facebook popped up..and eventually replaced it....perhaps the same fate awaits FB... |

Series 4 now gets the biz (but not the cast pop-ups, they take AGES) so that only leaves The New Avengers for the summaries. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I've added the summaries for TNA, the movie, and a couple others, so I think that's all done. I'll add the cast pop-overs for those which are still missing them when I can. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Renovations are complete!
10 May 2022
Plot summaries and cast photo pop-ups are now in place for all series, and the 1998 film. I've also tweaked the cast pages to use the same feature, so the "Show extra detail" box will reveal the full character names, where I have augmented the original on-screen credits.
I *really* need to rewrite the episodes I haven't got to yet though, some of my previous summaries are dire. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Do you know why some of the character names are missing, e.g. Collins for Howard Marion-Crawford on this example from the episode cast page for Stay Tuned?
There's a symbol but not the name, in the first column of the table. Were they just uncredited?

Ah, thank you. I had forgotten about the lazy Series 6 credits.
Yes, on screen they just had the actors' names, with no character attribution.
If you click "Show extra detail" the character names will appear.
Maybe I should revert that change...

It's a tricky one, isn't it. As a bit of a pedant, I am happy that the credits reflect what went out on broadcast. I wonder how the TV Times and other listings magazines showed them?
Your compromise of now showing the character names in italics seems reasonable. As long as people can tell what it means _________________ Last watched: "The Medicine Men" |

I did some user testing and it was 100% "huh?" so I've reversed the change.
You're right I was pedantically trying to make it as the original broadcast credits, but it didn't really make sense as I was still listing all the completely unbilled actors, and people though it was broken when the character attributions weren't shown. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

yeah, always wondered why they didn't list the character's name next to the actors...shouldn't have been all that extra effort....hmmmmm? |

Well, I DIDN'T stop my research and went on to do Italy and Spain as I had most of the titles for those countries.
I can't find a title for the episode shown in Spain on 10th July 1967 or for 2nd March 1970 so if anyone has that info (Denis, I'm looking at you), please tell me.
I discovered most of the titles did NOT match contemporary newspaper listing of TV schedules, so I assume they invented new ones when they put out DVD sets.
I also discovered that Italy was an unholy mess and didn't show ANY episodes after series 4 other than The New Avengers until the 1980s, on Berlusconi's dodgy channel.
Piedemont could receive Italian language broadcasts (I guess) from Switzerland on Svizzera Italiana for series 5 in 1973-4, other areas might have been able to get them from Yugoslavia or Malta. Sadly, the list of dates on David K Smith's site for Italy is pretty much wrong all over with regard to the dates. It tantalisingly gives dates otherwise unknown for TNA, but as some of those are completely at odds for those verifiable by newspapers, I can't trust them.
Also, surely "Scuola di danza per delitto" would be "Quick-Quick Slow Death", rather than "How to Succeed... at Murder" as has previously been indicated to me. QQSD was apparently broadcast in Italy sometime in July 1969, perhaps with the title "A passo di danza", but I can't find it.
Series 2, 3, 4, and 5 are updated with the international broadcast data, 6 and TNA to come soon. (I'm isolating as I have COVID so I have a lot of time to kill and putting this stuff into web pages is really dull work). _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

Spain
An episode scheduled to air on July 10, 1967 was eventually replaced by a Spanish program, and on 2nd March 1970 the Tara episode "No pierdan la onda" (Stay Tuned) was shown.
When I researched this topic a few years ago, I came to the same conclusion that it is likely the series' run in the 1960s and 1990s differ. Surely, all episodes of the series shown in the period 1990-91 were dubbed by professional Spanish actors at the studio.

Italy
Actually, Quick-Quick Slow Death was broadcast in Italy with the title "A passo di danza" - the earliest I found on 2 June 1979 (RAI 2). It is possible that the episode was originally shown in 1969 to replace some program.
Agree, "Scuola di danza per delitto" sounds like "Quick-Quick Slow Death", despite on video media in Italy the title referred to "How to Succeed... at Murder" (wrong edit?) and some showing on a private TV channel on November 12, 1980, according to some websites, which I could not confirm.
Wishing you a speedy recovery from COVID, Piers, and hope this is your first time. I got sick once with at the beginning of the year, although my brother had already been sick twice with. _________________ Denis |
