I don't normally complain, but Darren's banner is causing my browser to have to vertically scroll in any thread he's posted in! Sad

We don't have an official size limit. (Within reason, of course. An 800x600 avatar would be removed immediately.)

What resolution are you running? Looking at his signature from here (at 1600x1200), it's very reasonably sized. In fact, it's one of the smaller ones.

1024 x 768 - It's the highest resolution I can on my laptop.

I've got about the same resolution as you have Sam, and I've no problems at all. Very odd..
Could it be your browser? (is that possible?)

Sometimes they are a bit large, but we don't what rules for everything. As long as they don't become very very large we will let them be. So think along and don't use very large images as banners.

I use Internet Explorer 8... Anyway, here's a screen capture. If you notice the post above his, it causes the end of the lines to scroll off the screen to the right. So, in any thread he posts, to read each reply I have to constantly scroll back and forth.

In the threads he doesn't post in, everything fits as normal... No horizontal scroll bar.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble Sam. Unfortunately, I'm not sure as to what can be done as this is the first and so far only time I've seen anyone have a problem getting everything to fit on their screen.

If anyone else has a laptop and is having the same problems as Sam in getting Darren's or anyone else's banners/avatars running off the screen, could you let us know please? If you had this problem and were able to correct it, let us know that too.

Thanks,
Kim

I can't get mine to show period. Just the address that I type shows up in my posts. Am I missing something?

You have to put the [img] tag around the address of the picture you want to use. Then it should work.

I use photobucket to host mine.

Download your image, use MS Paint to resize it (or change it, attach two images together or add text) then upload to photobucket and cut and paste the IMG to your sig.

Finally found a solution!

I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus. The ads are blocked by a downloaded list. However, you can also right-click an image and block it as well, whether it's an ad or not. I simply blocked the images that were causing me the problems, Darren's signature image and ikbtops' huge avatar, and I can now read the forum trouble-free once again!

Cool

No problem... Cool

Horizontal scrolling is a pet peeve of mine. I must be the only one here who doesn't have a widescreen monitor! Sad
