I was just watching the Lord Mayor's Show (London) - an annual event where floats and different kinds of groups parade through the centre of London - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Mayor's_Show.
Anyway, at one point two old cars were seen. My reaction was "Oh that looks like one of Steed's car". I looked at the registration number and decided to pop into the main website to check it out and lo and behold, it was the exact car that Macnee drove in:
YK 6871 1928 Green Label Bentley
The Fear Merchants
Great to know it's still going strong.
Edited as I copied the wrong info earlier.

Well spotted. Apparently there were two Bentlies with the same reg.
Edited: Pictures too. Ah, the old girl is still looking spendid. Thank you, quite touching to see that. _________________

I wonder if it is the same car? Certainly the front number-plate has different style numbers, and the little lamps on top of the mudguards have grown a bit! Maybe the old ones had to be replaced though.. |

Nice pictures, thanks for posting.
Apparently it belongs to a Bentley Drivers Club member. Interestingly according to http://theavengers.tv/forever/archive-95.htm it wasn't in the DVLA database in August 2006 and I see it still isn't today.

If it's not in the DVLA it probably means it's not currently registered for road use. I can't see a tax disc so that seems likely, probably only gets rolled out of the garage for events like this. _________________ Mrs Peel, you're needed!

I wouldn't read too much into the tax disc, it could well be in a secure metal holder bolted on the side somewhere. In any case, if it wasn't registered for road use it would need to be declared off road ("SORN'ed") so would still be in the DVLA database.
I think it's more likely that it became detached from its original number at some point so is officially registered with a different one. |

It looks like the tax disc was on the side in The Fear Merchants so probably still is (that's where I have mine too).
Incidentally, the info reproduced above from http://theavengers.tv/forever/cars-2.htm is incorrect. http://www.vintagebentleys.org says the car was delivered in July 1925 and the registration YK was issued in June/July 1925 which confirms. The site also says it is a "Speed" model which I think makes it a "Red label", although the badge on the car in the episode appears to be blue.
Apparently you could order any colour of badge and Bentley owners don't use the "label" terminology anyway, so I think the car is simply a 1925 Bentley 3 litre Speed model.

I've found the answer, it is registered as a "BENTLEY VANDEN PLAS" rather than just a Bentley (you have to be precise with the DVLA website!)
Code: | The vehicle details for YK 6871 are:
Date of Liability 01 09 2013
Date of First Registration 08 07 1925
Year of Manufacture 1925
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3000cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available |

I watched the TV coverage of the 2012 Lord Mayor's Show yesterday. A lot of interesting old vehicles but sadly no sign of the Bentley this year. |

The indicators had to be replaced for larger ones as a legal requirement for road use I think?

Deauville? That car gets around. Poor Emma's Lotus locked away in some museum or somewhere. _________________
