A few hours ago talent agent Barry Langford informed on his Twitter page:

https://twitter.com/LangfordBarry

A sad goodbye to beautiful Valerie Van Ost, who passed away this week. Valerie gave up her successful acting career to become a respected casting director, and was beloved in both professions. She will be much missed.

Valerie was undoubtedly one of the brightest and most memorable actresses in British film and television. What a loss!!!!

Sad Sad Sad

She was the body in an advertising Avengers episode The Strange Case of the Missing Corpse and...

who could play Penny better than Valerie in Avengers episode Dead Man's Treasure?

RIP. Many Thanks to Valerie. Grieve and remember.

Valerie Van Ost was very good at comedic roles. I especially liked her Carry On roles. I think she did 4 of those. She was very memorable in Dead man's treasure, and I read somewhere she was one of several actresses considered as Diana Rigg's replacement in The Avengers. RIP.

Here's a lovely shot of Valerie with Macnee whilst surrounded by autograph hunters (I presume).

Very sad news - her acting and comic timing were perfect in the Dead Man's Treasure episode of The Avengers in 1967.
She was considered as a replacement for Diana Rigg - I think she would have been splendid.
RIP Valerie

Quite recently saw Dead Man's Treasure, which is a great episode in part due to Van Ost. Another sad loss of an Avengers actor.

Farewell to "The Body". They seem to have given her an extra facial mole in that short.
