Emma wears a patterned blue/green silk (?) scarf in Dead Man's Treasure. Tara wears an identical, or the same, one in The Forget-Me-Knot....

That's an answer I hadn't thought of.
I think all the Avengers ladies have posed with Steed's bowler at one time or another. I used to have a pic of Jo and Gareth, from the 1994 Video Gems promo, as my avatar. And Diana was on every Lumiere video release in a bowler. Linda you've mentioned - I'm sure Honor must have worn one too - or am I thinking of that riding hat she wore once... _________________

There's a doorman on the hotel in Liecester Square who's uniform consists of a rather natty suit and Bowler hat, whenever I walk past him I feel like saying "Good morning Mr Steed."
Haven't plucked up the courage yet. _________________ You check the files, I'll check my memories. |

Here's an easy one -
Name the even more famous son of an Avengers director. _________________

(A very late) Correct! Just seen your reply, sorry. I said it was easy ...
Look at my sig. Match the Avenger girl with the show/place they were interviewed. Hint: Linda Thorson is a tricky one ...

Linda's is an Emerdale interview(at a convention of some sorts). Diana is a Parky interview. That's all I can contribute. |

Yes like Cariheart said: Linda on Emmerdale something. Diana on Parkinson in 2007. Honor on Loose Women in 2008 and Joanna on 'Frost all over the world' (Al Jazeera), May 2009. _________________ My Joanna Lumley Fan Forum |

Yes, Linda was the trickiest one as it was done on the Internet - so that would have done - the rest are correct, Philippa. _________________

As we all know Cyd Child was the stunt double for Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson.
But when did she 'double' for Modesty Blaise? _________________

Modesty Blaise answer here
Quote: | One of the tidbits of information in the extras included in Titan’s series of Modesty Blaise reprints is that original artist Jim Holdaway had a set of reference photos taken to help him with the fight scenes, modelled by European women’s judo champion Cyd Child.
Child also worked as a stunt artist, and often doubled for Diana Rigg in The Avengers. So, stretching a point, you could say that she played both Modesty Blaise and Emma Peel, which is quite an achievement.
|
So Cyd has 'been' Emma, Tara and Modesty. Quite an accolade! _________________

Don't forget Purdey! On the rare occasion that Joanna didn't do her own stunts, Cyd stepped in. Joanna insisted on her personally. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

I nearly said Purdey, but I'm never quite sure how much she actually doubled for her. I remember reading about the motorbike incident where it was getting closer and closer until it eventually hit her. Brave lady.
Or was that in one of the Di Rigg eps? You see I get confused at my age ...
I think it's because I've never seen a photo of Cyd actually dressed up in one of Purdey's outfits that I never associate her to Purdey in quite the same way as I do Emma and Tara. _________________

She didn't do it nearly as much as she did for Linda and Diana, as you say, and there were other people brought in for "specialist" stuff, too, like the professional dancers who filled in for The Eagle's Nest and Three-Handed Game, and the man and woman who did all her bike scenes. But she definitely did do parts--the bit where Purdey smashes out the windscreen in Sleeper is Cyd, which is the only one I'm calling to mind at the moment, but I'm sure there were others. Cyd said that they were reluctant to bring her in because the second she was on set they had to pay for her, and they were always keen to save money. She was supposed to dangle from the ladder in Dirtier by the Dozen, but they got Joanna to do it instead to avoid paying her fee. (How that logic would have worked had Joanna fallen off and snapped something never seemed to enter into it). At the very least she lost weight to pass as a double, and had a lovely time tormenting...I mean training ...Gareth and Joanna in that band room in Pinewood.
I'm pretty sure the motorcycle stunt was for Emma, though--Escape in Time, if I recall correctly. I've only ever seen her done up as Emma, though--I don't think I've ever come across a photo her as Tara or Purdey. It'd be nice to see one! _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

Yes I think it was Escape in Time with the Motorbike stunt.
Thanks for all the TNA trivia, as ever.
Here's Cyd as 'Tara King'.

Oh, yes, I remember seeing that one now--Cyd as blonde Tara. Is it just me, or did she sort of start looking like whichever Avenger girl she was meant to be as soon as got done up for the part?
I have too much TNA trivia rattling around in my brain. It needs outlets, or otherwise it starts to leak. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?
