Thanks, Jaz! The test footage to replace Diana, with all those actresses, seems like quite a treat! _________________ believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if i have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Wow! Excellent features, really looking forward to this set. Shame there's no new interview with Linda but I think there's definitely more than enough to compensate, excellent work! |

But-but-but "James Maxwell and Moray Watson in the role of Steed"!
Was this for screen test purposes, so that these actress had someone to bounce off, and Pat unavailable?
Patrick wasn't leaving with Diana at one point was he?
Quick google says James Maxwell was in The Superlative Seven as Jason Wade and The Outside-In Man as Mark Charter
Moray Watson was in The Danger Makers as Peters _________________

James and Moray were used as Patrick wasn't available. Linda Thorson did one of her tests opposite Jeremy Burnham. It was just to see how the ladies tested against a male lead. _________________

Fantastic, I was really hoping for a commentary with either John Hough or Robert Fuest, brilliant to get both. I bet that Jeremy Burnham has got some great stories (if he's got a good memory with his perspective of writer and actor), wonderful to include Veronica Strong (who was also in Burnham's Children of the Stones).
Saddened that Linda Thorson isn't taking part in anything new. But the test footage will be fascinating. |

Ditto. This will be fascinating to watch. Not only do we get to see the Tara prospects in action, but a couple people filling in for Steed. As someone who loved Donald Monat in the role, I'm interested to see how they fare.
Jennifer Croxton's commentary has me excited, too. Once again, I love how these sets go beyond the usual suspects and bring in people with fresh takes on the series that haven't been rehashed so many times. But it is sad Linda isn't popping up. _________________ Last Watched: Who Was That Man I Saw You With?

The Wanda Ventham test will be interesting to watch. We know her best from UFO and she was also Nurse Spray in The Gravediggers.
Her son Bendedict Cumberpatch is currently in BBC's brilliant Sherlock. _________________

Question for Jaz....were Linda's filmed introductions used as Granada Plus Points for the Tara episodes? I seem to remember that the Tara series had Pluspoints as well as series 5. |

They were filmed especially for the "Tara King - Six of the Best" video boxset that was released in 1995. I'm sure she was given a list of what had yet to be issued and had to choose her favourites from them.
It was a wonderful boxset - very solidly built. |

Sounds excellent ! I remember a variant opening credit which was a shortened version of the armors credits, I have I think this one on VHS, let me know if this could interest you.
Just to be sure, do SPLIT features both the opening target credit and the end credits with the cards ?
Also, do Knot retains the original alternate end credit as well as alternate opening credits (with different footage montage of the original opening including alternate shots).
I mean are they like they are on the old DVDs ? Just checking |

I remember, as a child, watching the first batch of Tara's (in re-runs) with the "Target" opening and closing credits. Was this how they were originally released, or were they modified for their US showings? I think each episode should feature whatever opening and closing titles it originally had, unless those prints no longer exist. |

America had the early batch of episodes with the shooting gallery titles before the UK. All the UK transmissions had the armour titles (with Split! being an accident...?).
I like the shooting gallery titles and despite the UK never properly having them, it would have been nice to be able to view the episodes with the option of either. |

France had a mix of shooting targets and armors credits.
I believe french didn't understand the difference, so the prints with the targets were cut and dupes of the armor credits stick in instead on some of them when they originally aired. |

When The Avengers were repeated on Channel 4 in the mid-1980s I'm sure Split! had the armour titles. However, "Look! Stop me..." had the target opening and closing titles.
The first time I saw Split! with the target opening titles was when it was release on video cassette in 1993.
I'm really looking forward to the DVD box set for this series. It has always been one of my favourite seasons and the extras look great. _________________ Paul |

Disappointed that Linda has not participated in the DVD release, surely she could have done 1 or 2 commentaries. Was she approached? Did she turn it down? Does anyone know? |
