David has just announced on his TAF site that he will no longer be updating it.

While he's keeping it up as a sort of reference page, I'm going to miss any new reviews that may have come up and his IMHO. However, I can certainly understand his reasonings and hope that the time away will give him a chance to rest and relax.

Best of luck David and we hope to see you from time to time here on the forum.

Kim

Yes I've read it this morning. I was a bit sad, but mostly glad.
David worked for 12 years on this fabulous website, which I honestly regard as one of the very best websites I have ever seen. And The Avengers Forever became the mother of the online Avengers community.

Thank you David, for a website that made me love my beloved series even more. Whenever my Avengers passion faded a bit, a visit to the website would always remind me why I love the Avengers. Even more then that I can still give me that feeling I had when I first discoverd the show.

Yes, David mentioned this to me in an email last night. It's a very sad day, and very definitely the end of an era. Twelve years is a heck of a long time to be working on a fan website - and as someone with one of eight years vintage, I know that there are peaks and troughs of enthusiasm and motivation involved in producing and maintaining them. And real life rears its ugly head far too often.

I hope that David recovers his Avengers 'mojo' after he's had some time to get rested and remotivated, and that this ultimately proves to be a temporary hiatus.

It's a great site as it stands of course (the best Avengers site on the net), but Avengers fandom will be considerably less spoilt without David taking an active role in it. All Avengers fans owe David an incredible debt of gratitude - and working with him and the other webmasters at TheAvengers.TV has been a tremendous pleasure. David's been our sugar-daddy, and continues to be so, for that matter. A top man.

Ah this really is sad news. TAF is one of the best websites I know, and definitely the best one about everything Avengers related.
Like Alan said, hopefully it'll only be a temporary hiatus, but until then we'll at least have a great reference page to fall back on Very Happy

I just read about it. And I was sad to learn that the website won't be updated anymore but there's still a few things I haven't read yet.

Thank you, David, for all the work you did these past 12 years. TAF is my favorite Avengers site!

I'm truly grateful for the time and effort David has spent on his wonderful website. He has provided a true service for Avengers fans for the over a decade; I can understand him being ready for a change of pace, especially considering the technical woes he has been putting up with recently. The Avengers Forever was another avenue for me to enjoy the Avengers with, especially when I was first becoming acquainted with the show. The Avengers Forever will continue to be a great companion to our favourite, one of a kind show, despite the fact that it will not receive regular updates.

Thanks David.

I just read this as well. Terribly sad (and the way things have been going for me lately, most everything knocks me for a loop). I can understand wanting to move on to other things, particularly after all the headaches he's been through, but I'd just submiitted an episode review, because I'd finally gained enough confidence to try it, and now it'll never be posted, along with any of the others I'd planned on doing. I missed the boat even though I had plenty of opportunities. I'll just be off to kick myself...

Best of luck to David in all his future endeavours. One thing does make me wonder--what'll become of the scripts?

Like everyone else I'd like to thank David for all he's done over the last dozen years and the wonderful website he created with, of course, all the contributions he received because of how good the site is and the efforts he put into organising them.

Needless to say it is the end of an era but at least we will still have TAF to enjoy and be inspired by. All of us can understand the pressures of "real" life that mean sometimes something has to give. It seems that even in the internet age from her wheel chair Nanny Roberts (http://theavengers.tv/forever/imho_26.htm) can be a diabolical mastermind when playing a waiting game.

Thanks again David

That is very sad news, although having read of all the problems David had been experiencing it's probably a good thing for him to have break from it all.

TAF was and still is a fantastic resource for Avengers fans and TV historians everywhere, and stands as a true testament to all of David's hard work.

Many thanks.

I would be interested to read your episode review. Maybe you could post it on this site...?

I'd be happy to! As long as it's not violating any forum rules...?

It's for The Eagle's Nest, with particular focus on how the Purdey and Gambit characters are played there compared to later in the show, and also the episode's "feel" as a pilot. I was planning (still am) to watch all the TNA shows in production order and write a review for each, so this one kind of sets up my thought processes as well. If people are interested, I'd be glad to post it! Very Happy

TAF is a fantastic library, as David now describes it. His reviews are always well balanced and intelligent. Put into book form they would make a far more interesting read than anything else that has been printed about the show. I was hoping that we could have the original scripts on the site but sadly that will not be possible now. It feels very sad for me, having only discovered this treasure a year ago.

Well put the contents are actually to good for the internet. You expect it in a book not on the web which to often is not more then sallow sites that have the lifetime of a butterfly.
