Hello everyone,

I'm new here, so thought I should start by introducing myself. Being born in 1981 means I'm a newbie in Avengers fandom anyway, having first seen the show either on BBC2 repeats or satellite tv in the mid-1990s. The episodes that I remember watching first, that really captured my attention as an 11 or 12 year old, are still amongst my favourite episodes now: Pandora and Thingumajig. That also means my favourite regular other than Steed is Tara; followed by Venus, then Dr King, Purdey and Emma in that order. While I can't claim that The Avengers is my number one favourite show, its not very far off from it. As a cult tv and period drama fan and dvd collector, I try to keep up with at least a dozen or so new (new to me, that is) shows a year. As a purely subjective exercise, my own list of personal favourite series from past and present would include: Doctor Who, Primeval, Robin Hood (2006 BBC), The Hour, Miss Marple (1980s BBC), Agatha Christie's Marple, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Return of the Saint, Strange Report, The Avengers, The Paradise, Blake's 7, Land Girls, PanAm, Bergerac, Midsomer Murders, and Sapphire & Steel. Doctor Who, The Avengers and Primeval would include their entire respective televised canons. My username is the one I use on the Blake's 7: Horizon and Doctor Who Online forums. On Horizon, we have a small but active Avengers fandom where we meet online and discuss episodes as we watch them at a pre-arranged time using the forum's message board. We call these 'rewatches' and have a lot of fun with them. We have seen all the Emma Peel episodes and will start on Purdey and Tara episodes this year!

Thanks for having me,

Alex

Hi Alex! Welcome to the forum. Always nice to meet another Avengers fan. Smile

Pleasantly surprised to see you rank Venus and Dr. King so highly, as I enjoy them both as well, though they tend to get lost in the shuffle sometimes given their short tenures. That's changing, though.

I hope you enjoy your time on the forum. We have lots of really wonderful members that know their Avengers, so you'll have no shortage of people to talk to!

Welcome to the forum!

I enjoy a lot of the same shows as you - my favourites include The Avengers and The New Avengers (obviously), The Prisoner, Robin of Sherwood (HTV/Goldcrest, 1984-86, far better than the BBC one in my opinion), Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett, The Prisoner and other ITC shows (Strange Report and Man in a Suitcase are favourites), Return of the Saint and The Persuaders!. Also Blakes 7 (I've been a Horizon member since 1987 and try to check in to the forum now and then!), Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Sapphire & Steel, and some obsure 1970s shows like Gangsters.

But I'm sure there's plenty to talk about in The Avengers alone!
