I've been working on a new site for the fans of THE AVENGERS fanfiction. The Patty Patt.net is gone and there're no updates on the Mia Mar site, but there are many fans outsite who write or like to read newer The Avengers fanfictions.

I tried to collect all (still) existing fanfictions from different sites and with the help of some fans I also found some of the "lost files".
But some are still missing and I know other fanfictions were published in Fanzines, but I don't know how many are/were still out there.
If you wrote some fanfictions or have some files on your computer, which are not mentioned on the new site, please contact me.

I'm still trying to identify the authors of some fanfictions. Does anyone know who is the author of the fanfiction "The missing aviator"?
The story starts like this:

""The Missing Aviator"
An Avengers Fanfiction
The seventh of a series of adventures designed to bridge between broadcast episode 3.26, "Lobster Quadrille" (Cathy Gale), and episode 4.01, "The Town Of No Return" (Emma Peel). After checking the dialog in episode 5.26, "The Forget-Me-Knot", I thought that perhaps this story, and the ones that follow, could exist within canon. Nothing is as it seems.."

Same thing here. It's a story I got under the name "Twin trouble", but I'm not sure if this is the original title.

"A TWIN DELEMA

“So, you like to take the name Miss Emma Peel. As I recall, that’s a
character from the ‘Avengers’ correct?”
“A friend thought of it” She said not worried in the least
“Would this friend go by the name John Steed?” The confidence in the
room switched from person to person. “I see,”..."

The Missing Aviator is the seventh fanfiction I wrote, and the last of the Rita Fox series (and my first fic to have Emma Peel). It's no longer on fanfiction.net, along with the other Rita Fox stories. FF.net starts with the eighth story, "Our Woman In Tokyo."

Are the Rita Fox stories gone? What a pity. Sad I really enjoyed them, and Rita. I thought she was a brilliant Avengers girl in her own right.

It wasn't entirely intentional. I've been having problems with fanfiction.net for some time (HTML upload formats being rejected, unable to do story management, etc.), mainly because it seems like they change their software every other week Smile I've just been too lazy to re-upload the stories, and they would now be out of sequence, anyway. Since they were all written 7 years ago, I figured anyone who wanted to save them had probably done so already. The stories were all receiving "retribution" spam reviews from those Marvel Avengers guys... (oh, brother Rolling Eyes )

Yeah, ff.net can be a pain that way, I agree. Still a shame to lose the fics, though not to lose the tiresome reviews. I have no problem with the Marvel Avengers. I just don't want them filed with the series that had the name first. Rolling Eyes

I made some updates in several sections of The Avengers Fanfiction Archive.
I added new fanfictions in different languages and some links to photo caption fanfictions or photo fictions. This weekend will happen a huge update in the author list and the titles list.

Really enjoyed looking through your fanfiction archive, Ischtar.

One story that's not currently listed (so far as I can see) is 'The History Thieves' by Trevor Dower. Apparently it features Steed and Tara and follows on from events in the episode 'Bizarre'. Sadly, I haven't been able to locate a copy, but it sounds quite intriguing.

As you know, Trevor also wrote a number of fanfictions based on The Avengers movie. I see you have most of them listed, but the full list is available on the fanfiction page of The Avengers movie website: http://www.theavengers-movie.com/. I have all of these as Word documents, except the last one (Cybernauts).

Wow, there's Steed/Tara fan fiction? I don't know how to feel about this...

Hi Paul,
thank you for your kind words about The Fanfiction Archive and thank you very much for the information about the stories at The Avengers movie website. I only knew the old site theprosperofiles.co.uk so far.
I'll change the entry on my site soon.

A Steed and Tara based story? I never heard of that one . A History thieves - the title sounds quite interesting -a time travel adventure, or did they change history and where did Steed and Tara flight? I would like to read this one...Very Happy

There's probably more Steed and Tara fiction than any other pairing, full stop. The TV Comic strips went on for years after the series finished.

True, just not in fan fiction, which is a slightly different genre than comics.

Tara was quite popular after the series finished, especially in France and there are many comics about here indeed.

But if I had to decide it with gut instict I would guess that the Steed/Emma pairing and TNA stories make up the largest part of The Avengers Fanfictions.
It's sad that are only a few stories about Dr Keel, Martin King or Venus.

It would be great if more fans would write fanfictions. Some do, but they do not publish them, there is a strong new group on Tumblr (such as Celluloidbroomcloset), some are doing writing for a long time such as Timeless-A-Peel and others like Mona Morstein wrote fantastic stories years ago.
According to Steedumbrella we will get stories from Russian author Alexey Sidorov in the next time.

If you're a The Avengers fanfiction writer and would like to publish a story on The Avengers Fanfiction Archive because you don't have a site of your own - just send a message here or to the archive.

If you're trying to make some kind of point about relative popularity of the characters amongst fans, it's probably not a scientific survey - most of the fanfiction I've seen over the decades has been for The New Avengers! Whereas most of the professional prose (or semi-professional/self-published in the case of Geoff Barlow and his ilk) has been for Steed and Emma, simply because of the American sales demographic. There were also a fair few Cathy Gale books and newspaper strips when the programme was popular here in the UK before Emma Peel was even a twinkle in someone's eye.

If I've misread your agenda to put down the other characters and elevate Emma Peel, I apologise.

I might be tempted to do a Dr Martin King one when I have time!

I'd love to read that! I've written for the good doctor a couple of times, but I'll bet you'd capture him perfectly. Cool

I find it amusing that TNA is now being cited as one of the eras of the show with the most fanfic, given that five or so years ago there was virtually no TNA fanfic to speak of. Steed and Emma have always had the lion's share of the fic, with Tara the next most common character to pop up. It's only recently that there's been a few writers who have started writing for TNA, so it's more visible than it once was. Steed and Emma still claim the majority of the fic, though. It'd be great to see more Cathy and Keel and Tara and Dr. King in among the Emma/TNA stuff. And Venus! I still haven't written for Venus. I ought to rectify that one of these days.

Yeah, I don't think it's an issue of which characters are more or less popular among fans (no idea how you'd even determine that) - Steed and Emma just seem to occupy most of the (contemporary) fan fiction. If you just go through Ischtar's website, most of the stories are focused on Steed and Emma Peel, a few on Cathy Gale, and quite a few on TNA. Tara often figures into stories as well, but these are usually (it seems) in either conflict or in tandem with Steed/Peel.

I, for instance, have no interest in writing Steed and Tara fiction because I have no interest in Tara and I have my own interpretation and desires about what happens following the end of the series, and what happens within the series. That's my personal preference - if others want to, more power to them, and I can choose to read or not to read. That's the nice thing about fan fiction: it allows for an expansiveness of the universe and a development of the characters however the writer wishes. Someone could write a whole series with Venus as the main character if they'd like.

Not trying to put any characters down in order to elevate Emma Peel - there's plenty of room for all of them, but of course I have my own preferences. I don't really care what happens to Tara at the end of the series, so I don't really care to read anything involving her. But it would be interesting to have more of her independent of the Steed/Emma relationship.
