7/10

I watched this again last night after a very long gap. It's very atmospheric and has a similar feel to The Cybernauts yet in human form. Robert Day's direction is pacey, there's a lot of movement. Lots of handheld stuff which doesn't always work but looks interesting.

Location wise it's quite an ugly episodes with all the offices and Risley Dale not having a very pleasing aesthetic.

Mrs. Peel has a bit of tension with Cynthia, I get a sense of one upwomanship. Caroline Blakiston is wonderful. I love the fishing scene when Steed makes her smile (of course the wide shot is strangely sped up so their voices are a higher pitch).

It always surprises me to see Sandor Eles who is so good in And soon the Darkness, wasted here. Ray McNally doesn't make the same impact as he would in They Keep Killing Steed but it's a funny scene when Steed interrupts him waiting for he cohort, Steed feigning innocence.

I love Mrs. Peel's corny, "I don't often fall for strangers", "it was a corny situation that needed corny measures". And the strange kicking Steed in the shin, "oh I just felt like that" - it feels a bit aggressive for her towards him.

I think this would have made a lovely black and white episode.
