I just found a great photo of Jon from 1972 in that year's Spotlight, I must post it.
I always liked him and it's a shame he came in that interim period after Hendry left and wasn't kept after they decided to move to having a regular female lead.

I would love to see the photo and I think if he got more episodes in The Avengers people would see how much of a good actor he was and how he could hold is own to Ian Henry. I love the three episodes that Jon was in and he did play Dr King very different to Henry's Dr Keel not a copycat character as a lot of people do think. Jon did what Honor Blackman did with Cathy Gale she was given scripts aim for Ian Henry and she made them her own and did not play a copy of Keel and Jon does the same played Dr King as a new character and makes it his own. I wouldl love big finish down the road to do some stories with Dr King in as Dr Marrin King is a Avenger and a forgotten part of the show that needs to be addressed.

That's very sad.

He was a very good actor. I've seen him in Danger Man and Doctor Who where he was different in both.

Very sad indeed and played off Patrick McGoohan very well in Not So Jolly Roger one of my all-time favourite episodes of Danger Man. The last B&W episode of season three and then it was just the two colour episodes of season four.

Would be great for Danger Man to come out on blu ray to see Jon in HD.

Very sad to hear the news of Jon's passing. I have a fondness for his three Avengers episodes and have enjoyed his work in other productions.

RIP. Sad

Yes that is sad. All the leading Avengers men are now gone. Hendry, Rollason, Newell, Hunt and of course Macnee himself. Just the ladies left flying the flag now. Honor is quite an age, I fear she may be the first to go.

Thanks for posting. Just a minor note of trivia to point out: Eric L'Epine Smith was William Hartnell's son-in-law and agent. For a while he also handled Nicholas Courtney. Courtney & Rollason were both in 'Dead on Course' and later together in Dr Who's 'The Web of Fear'. I guess L'Epine got them the gigs. His daughter Jessica Carney later wrote a book about her grandfather Hartnell.

About three years ago one Saturday afternoon the telephone rang and it was Jon, calling in response to my correspondence regarding my book that became Bowler Hats and Kinky Boots. We spoke for 45 minutes about The Avengers, Doctor Who and Danger Man and he explained all about his contract with The Avengers (of which I have a copy), which is quite ambiguous in what part he was hired to play. Further to this, he told me how much he enjoyed working with the easy-going Patrick Macnee, but his appointment with The Avengers was only ever going to temporary. In complete contrast he found working with Patrick McGoohan on Danger Man a full on experience.

We have lost so many people associated with The Avengers over the past 14 months, Brian Clemens, Patrick Macnee, Don Leaver, Leonard White, Robert Banks Stewart and now Jon Rollason.

Very sad news indeed, I do enjoy watching his performances in The Avengers and as Harold Chorley in Doctor Who.

I especially like Jon's episode with the killer Mother Superior in it; "Dead On Course".
