For those interested in tracking down Avengers fanfic, we at The Avengers International Fan Forum can recommend no better starting point than ischtar's superb The Avengers Fan Fiction Archive.

Hi Alan,
thank you for the kind words about the Fan Fiction website.

It is very pleasing to see that there is now a separate area for fan fiction on the international fan forum. I have always regretted that relatively few fan fictions and fan fiction writers are in our fandom (compared with other famous TV series such as Doctor Who), particularly because the creative writing is a beautiful way to express his love for The Avengers.

I guess I never really counted before, but today I did. Until today at least 568 The Avengers fan fictions exist including the Russian fan fictions which can be found of Denis' website Steedumbrella and the stories from the fanzines.

Very Happy

...and I assume that remarkable number doesn't include the fanfics that are lost as a result of dead links or ones that were issued in print?

Considering your last post Alan, I have indeed to add at least 20 more "lost files". I could not find the files or working links for them and I also would have to check all fanzines ever made to find further stories (if they ever existed). Furthermore it's highly possible that more stories exist that were written in languages other than English. Without Denis mentioning the Russian stories written by different Russian authors I would never have found any of these. It's also possible that fan fictions existed which were never published anywhere.

I also wonder which The Avengers fan fiction was the first ever written. Older stories such as 'Debt Paid, In Blood by K. Linden (1983) published in 'Wynter Tydes'or other in 'With Umbrella, Charm and Bowler' are from the 80ths, but I'm not sure if they are the oldest ones.

An interesting and intriguing sequel story to A Room Without A View with neat touches of Too Many Christmas Trees with crisp dialogue in the spirit of series four.

I've often thought there was more scope for storyline development of the Manchuria theme.
The intense Mrs Peel 'Manchuria Prison Camp' incarceration scene would have made a brilliant (flash-back/flash-forward)
pre-title sequence and climax scene for the episode - accompanied by the classic 'to be continued' message signaling an intriguing second part.

This new story reminds me to review A Room Without A View Smile
