I've just opened my Christmas double edition of the Radio Times and found it includes an interview with Theresa May. There are a couple of interesting snippets about her TV viewing:

When you were young, did your parents let you watch much?
We could only get the BBC. Then, one day, my mother managed to jiggle the aerial and we got ITV and I saw Robin Hood. That music and Richard Greene as Robin Hood really grabbed me.

Any female TV role models?
I enjoyed watching The Avengers with Diana Rigg and then Joanna Lumley. But I don't think I thought about it in those terms. I have never had a female role model - I've always just got on with doing what I am doing.

No mention of Linda Thorson.

I see in a news story this week that Mrs May owns a pair of leather trousers so perhaps Emma Peel was a bigger influence on her than she realises!

Theresa May's leather trousers prompt political row

Agree. 995 (apparently) on leather trousers means she REALLY wanted them. So perhaps that connection to the past is strong!

That's interesting. Mrs Peel and Purdey do seem to be the most popular eras in the UK,so it's not surprising they are the ones that got a mention. Personally, I do prefer Mrs Gale and Tara though!

Yes, I saw this interesting Radio Times interview. Maybe her luxury leather trousers were indeed inspired by Emma Peel.
She clearly prefers the style of Mrs Peel.
Or as the Prime Minister might say,
'Peel means Peel, so... leather means leather!' Cool

Or reveals that to her 995 is a drop in the ocean...

It's a valid deduction as an MP...
