I haven't listened to the reconstruction of this lost AVENGERS episode yet, but my bet is that the crooked anaesthetist simply paints a nitrogen canister blue and substitutes it for one of the oxygen canisters before Peel is brought in for his surgery; this method would relieve him of the need to "tamper with" Peel's oxygen lines during the surgery. This method is used in the Alistair Sim mystery movie Green for Danger and in a BURKE'S LAW episode from the same time period. |

Nobody was listed in any of the cast lists I've found online and elsewhere, particularly in the book Avengers Superbook by - who was it now? Ah, yes - Brian Clemens! - as having played Dr. Braintree, so I assume Ian Hendry played a dual role briefly in this episode. |

And used more recently in the BBC's daytime series Father Brown episode "The Rod of Asclepius" (2016).
