I know the owner of 'Happy Meadows' very well and I'm sure he'd be more than happy for you to hang it on the gates if you were to visit and wish to photograph it.

Really Very Happy That would be awesome Geoff, I was going start it in the next few days as it happens. I'm planning a trip over the summer to try and put my signs up where the originals once were, and of course take some photos.

I wonder if he would be kind enough to tell me the width of 9 of those gate bars so I can work out the size of the sign.

This is another project I've been working on quietly, a full suit of armour and the lion shield from the Tara King opening credits, made in plastic. Much of it is nearly completed. Hopefully I'll get to finish it this summer when there are longer hotter days.

The actual dresses were designed by Paco Rabane and were apparently influenced by the outfits worn by Roman gladiators.

Very Happy Oh boy, that's quite made my day ! Looks like they were shortened for the Avengers, and the Happy Meadows masks were either inspired by the ones in Casino or the ones in the movie were adapted for the Avengers.

Ian

I never realised that the dresses had been shortened for The Avengers. I have no idea how they came to be on the show, I assume they were offloaded to a theatrical costumiers after Casino Royale and offered for hire or sale to any production who wanted them.

It's of course possible that they were shortened for another production before they reached the Avengers.

Great stuff! I like the PURRR locket, that is a superb bit of work.

Ian

These are all to your usual high standard, but I do really like the REMAK sign. I wonder if Jennifer Croxton actually kept the one given to her by Steed in the epiosde Killer.

Thank you Mike. I love 'Killer' and 'Forbes'. Great pity she only ever made one appearance. I doubt Jennifer Croxton kept the sign, very sad to think that the vast majority of these props almost certainly no longer exist. This was the image I used as reference and size guide to duplicate mine.

I didn't think at the time, but I should have asked her about the REMAK sign. When I was writing Bowler Hats and Kinky Boots, I contacted her and out of all the people associated with The Avengers and The New Avengers, she was the only one who initially was unhappy about it. I quoted where I had obtained her email details and she was thought that my contact should not have passed her information on. However, by the end of the email she was agreeable to assist me. I thought that I would not push my luck and sent maybe 10 to a dozen questions, mainly regarding Killer, her appearence in The Great Great Britain Crime, what it was like to work with Macnee, Clemens, John Hough, Cliff Owen, plus what I though would be the most interesting, why she did not audition for The New Avengers. She was good to her word and replied quite quickly and there was some good answers, but I have never emailed her since.

Interesting, odd how some of these actors react. Reminds me of my encounter with Liz Frazer, not something I would care to relive.

YES .... The Nightmare that was reproducing Z.Z. von Schnerks script is over Very Happy

... And I wrapped it in clear film sheet straight away because I just knew that after all the effort I'd not fail to spill, drop, dribble or get a dirty thumb print on it if I didn't !

Brilliant work Ian Smile
Love the Epic script cover - what is font-type did you use on it?

Here's Von Schnerk's gold award for The Best Cinematograph Film of 1931 for your consideration Smile
I'd never noticed before - the spelling error on Cinematogaph.

Buying some film editing programs inspired me to work on re-editing some Avengers episodes into, hopefully, a series of mini-films - re-edited short Avengers films (8-10mins) with new soundtrack music mixes and new titles -
I'd been re-editing two mini-films from Epic and saw the mistake on von Scherk's gold award. I was thinking of using von Schnerk's font on the titles of the mini-film.

Will post the Dropbox link to the new mini-film videos on the forum.
I'm enjoying the creative process of film-editing and sound-mixing and developing a fresh take on some favourite Avengers episodes - as you know Ian, creating Avengers material is very addictive Smile

You're kind thanks. I searched all over for the Schnerk font, it doesn't seem to exist, and if it does I certainly couldn't find it. Someone more knowledgeable than myself (which is just about everyone Very Happy) took a close look, and seemed to think it was hand painted and completely unique, looking closely many of the letters don't match. So basically that's what I did on my script, with help. I see the printed font on the statue doesn't match the font type used on the script which adds to the theory. Your mini movies sound fascinating, I shall very much look forward to seeing them. It is indeed all very addictive. I'm finally getting to put together Steed's Christmas fairy from 'Too Many Christmas Trees' after a hard search finding the exact doll and clothing from 1963, and of course I'm still battling with recreating the Retro-Meter from 'All Done With Mirrors', it's going to be huge once the telescope is added, as usual I didn't think of that when I started to make it Shocked It's does look a pretty cool sight when all the props are seen together. It'd make a terrific back drop for some event, but where it'll all eventually end up I've no idea, in the trash bin probably, as I doubt anyone one will even know what it all is when the time comes Laughing

Looks like a variation on an Arnold Bocklin font - art nouveau http://luc.devroye.org/OttoWeisert-ArnoldBoecklin.jpg
