Definitely not Cyd, Diana had lots of stand-ins though.
Diane West, Dorothy Ford (stunts, e.g. the fencing in Correct Way to Kill), the one here and another who Steed also mistakes for Emma in "The Hour that Never Was"

Great photo, she seemed to able to morph into both Diana and Linda, There is a scene where Cyd has a full face shot in False Witness when she's chasing a milk float, you have to really, really look hard to see it's not Linda.

Forgive me as I'm don't know how to post the video on here, but for anyone on Facebook:

Go to Drake Judo Club - Tavistock

Click on video at the top of the page.

The second video down (BBC Spotlight) is a short report featuring Cyd (Christine) from Dec 2017.

When I spoke on the phone with Christine (Cyd) some years ago when she assisted me with the book Bowler Hats and Kinky Boots, she was involved with a children's swimming club.

Yesterday I finished watching the episode "Never, Never Say Die" and made a great discovery for myself - Cyd Child does not appear in this episode at all, as believed earlier for many years. !!! Shocked Shocked Shocked
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, today I again analyzed all the footages in mentioned episode with participation Emma Peel in order to confirm it.

There is only one footage where Diana Rigg seems to have been replaced by an double (this is not very clear on the DVD Optimum - when Emma Peel in Lotus drives to the cottage of Eccles - in any case, it's not Cyd and even no stunt driver which usually did the work for Emma Peel in the first block of series 5) and a few others footages where the camera focuses on Emma's hands (clearly this is usually work of stand-in).

How did it happen that Cyd did not appear in the episode, although it is known that she worked in it, at the least for final fight?

Memoirs of Cyd:
"I did hurt myself, a bit, on The Avengers once. We had this scene to do with Diana, Patrick and Christopher Lee and they wanted me to dive into this brick wall... I was supposed to have been thrown through the air by Chris Lee. I couldn't picture how to do this in my head somehow and sort of thought that it would sort itself out when I did it. It didn't though, I just dived into the wall and hurt myself, went flat on my back on the floor. Diana and Patrick were very concerned. They worried about me and told me to take a mustard bath - and Diana actually covered for me! They changed the stunt slightly and she did the scene, because I was crawling up to my dressing room. I was okay. I'd just bruised my back."

It turns out that Cyd could not participate in the final fight, because she was damaged at the first stunt in this scene (I think they started shooting the fight from this point). Of course they could find a replacement, but it looks like they did not have enough time for it, because Christopher Lee was involved in the scene, who had a tight work schedule and of course a high salary. I think that the situation was that they had to shooting the fight within a short period of time (maybe even in one day - it all depended on the schedule of the team and the actors), so they simplified the stunts so that they could be performed by Diana Rigg herself. By the way, it is quite possible that this was another reason why they canceled the heroes' battle with their duplicates. Confused

Now I'm going to IMDb to delete the name Cyd from this episode. Wink

That's great. There are a couple of questions I'd like to ask Cyd. What was the most dangerous stunt she ever had to perform on The Avengers Question Is there a particular stunt that did not work on the show, and if so how did the crew adapt the stunt so that it did work? Also, does Cyd have any interesting behind the scene stories that we fans may not know about. Thanks, Rich. Smile

Great news. Cheers!

There are many questions that would be interesting to ask Cyd.
An curious topic is her cooperation with other regular stuntmen on the series and with whom she had the best relationship? Wink

This is important point, whether she will truly remember anything about a girl named Annabelle Wise or Annabelle Covey. Wink as it was not raised in an interview published in the fanzine of Dave Rogers.

Material in the fanzine of Dave Rogers is mentioned that Cyd had a photograph of Diane Enright, if Cyd still has it - it will be discovery, thanks to Cyd, to reveal the identity of one of Diana's stand in.

Have there ever been cases where she performed any other functions on the series except as a stunt girl?

Were there any special stunts on The Avengers that Cyd invented herself?

Did she like the Emmapeelers? What Emma Peel's and Tara King's costumes were more "memorable" for her?

What sort of stunts did she like more for her performance and vice versa. What of their stunts Cyd performed she is happy in the end?

Other curiosities are, which Avengers episodes she likes most? Very intriguing for knowing. Wink

What were the basic principles of the difference in performing stunts in the Avengers and the TNA on her own experience? Yes, it's interesting that she will personally answer, as the school of stuntmen of the 1970s went on to more realistic performances in contrast to the 1960s.

Does she remember any Avengers/TNA scenes with her participation that were eventually cut out? Wink

It was thought it was a great pleasure to work with Ray Austin when he was a director and stunt arranger in one person. Given that Ray's film direction for the episode The Bird Who Knew Too Much was the debut - scene "springboard and jump into the water" - Cyd recalls about this work with Ray on mentioned scene? What it was like to work with a regular film directors and Ray Austin as film director and stunt arranger in one person? That is, what was difference - was it harder or easier for her?

Did she feel during the work on the episodes with Emma Peel a certain deficit in female stuntwomen, taking into account that the there stiil were stuntmen during this period who doubled the female characters. For example, Art Thomas doubled Sally Nesbitt in the fall in the episode The Joker (1967), etc.

Or any others in my unknown list...

Yes, material looks already as "whole interview". Wink Well, in order if Cyd will find such a number of questions as a sort of obtrusiveness, I would highlight from my following:

1. This is important point, whether she will truly remember anything about a girl named Annabelle Wise or Annabelle Covey, as it was not raised in an interview published in the fanzine of Dave Rogers.

2. (Very important) Material in the fanzine of Dave Rogers is mentioned that Cyd had a photograph of Diane Enright, if Cyd still has it - it will be discovery, thanks to Cyd, to reveal the identity of one of Diana's stand in.

3. (Very important) Have there ever been cases where she performed any other functions on the series except as a stunt girl? If so, it would be great if she could recall the titles of the episodes or scenes for these?

4. Which Avengers episodes she likes most? Very intriguing for knowing. Smile

5. Does she remember any Avengers/TNA scenes with her participation that were eventually cut out?

P.S./ Personally, I'd like to hear Cyd's answers to Piers and Rich's questions. Wink

Another point is if Cyd will not against such a number of questions higher, it's how the name "Cyd" was "invented" and when she began to use it. Wink
