The current owner of John Steed's 4,5 Litre Bentley from 1929/UW 4887, Mr Lars Hedborg, added several new photos of the car.

Well spotted, that is significant news. This car hadn't been heard of since The Avengers so it's great to know it is still around. Judging by the owner's name and the new registration number I'm concluding that the car is in Sweden.

The 6 1/2 litre "RX 6180" had itself previously been in Sweden undergoing a long restoration but returned to the UK and was put on the market last April. It has has now found a buyer and has just been taxed in the UK.

The 1927 3 litre "YT 3942", last known about in 1985, has now also just been taxed again for use on British roads which means it must be road legal.

So for the first time we know that all five* of Steed's Bentleys are still in existence: one in the USA, one in Sweden and three in the U.K.

*Ignoring the one used in the closing credits of series 4 which is not any of the three used in that series but not enough is seen to be able to identify it.

Steed's 3 litre Bentley from 1928, the YT 3942, appeared in a Hammer Film production from 1975, "The Ghoul" aka "The Night of the Ghoul" with Peter Cushing. There are several scenes in the film with the car.

A business man from Huddersfield bought the 4,5 litre vintage Bentley, UW 4887, which appeared in several episodes of series 4

I found this item in "Television Weekly" of 9/10/1965, in an article about The Avengers. Television Weekly was the TV guide for the ITV Wales and West region at that time.

Note that it says that the owner lent the car "for the duration of the series", whereas we know it only made it to the first four episodes - a fact that would have been known at the time of publication as ABC were filming "Small Game..." by then with the third of their Bentleys.

Also, strangely, the article says that the Bentley makes its first appearance that week in "The Gravediggers", but Steed actually drives a Vauxhall in that episode! I'm guessing that the magazine article was compiled from an old publicity press release.

The pictures in the posts above from VintageBentley.org appear in this 1969 article in "The Huddersfield Post" (27/6/1969)

I suppose the Huddersfield Businessman mentioned had bought the "splendidly maintained" Bentley from the local garage owner.

And here's a bit of speculation. The lady pictured with the car in 1969 is named as Jenny Newby. No other information is given.
Jenny Newby is also the name of one of the participants on Channel 4's Gogglebox (the one with Lee in Jenny's holiday caravan in Hull). The same Jenny?
