Inspired by the discussion in this http://avengersfanforum.s2.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=3685 thread I am curious what the people on this forum would prefer.

I would choose Elizabeth Shepherd version of The Town of No Return, because I have no idea how Elizabeth plays Emma Peel and I have nostalgia for Avengers film era, with which I began to get familiar with the series.

Especially when I gradually begin to believe that this version really exists - begin to want to watch it. Smile

Neither! If I could pick only one lost episode to be recovered it would be either Invitation to a Killing or the Great Great Britain Crime. I'd probably choose Invitation to a Killing as I really enjoyed the South African radio version.

Oooh it's getting complicated! Don't make me choose!!

With the original question.... probably TTONR (as much as I love what we've got from series one so far).

But yeah, seeing the untainted original John Bryce episodes... After writing a chapter on Homicide and Old Lace for the series of books Rodney Marshall edited (I loved doing that!), I'm fascinated by what The Great Great Britain Crime, clear of any Clemens tinkering was like.

One more season 1 episode.

I see on the dissolute website series 1 page that its now thought very unlikely that episodes 3-9 were broadcast 'live to air' after all (as was thought because the filmed and first broadcast dates were listed for a long time as the same). It's a pity because I always believed 'Girl On A Trapeze' looked live. I see its because the production dates are now uncertain!

True Rhonda, but it seems they were performed "live to camera" - effectively a filmed stage play - given the very short production times and obvious goofs that they just roll with. So they were live in a manner of speaking and your gut feeling about 'Girl On A Trapeze' is correct.

While it would be fascinating to see the original Town of no return, I would definitely prefer another season 1 episode.A real shame there's only 3 complete ones. A Dr Who serial turned up in Hong Kong. What are the odds of another Season 1 episode turning up overseas? Fingers crossed.

Even though I would definitely welcome the discovery of another season 1 episode or the Shepherd footage, I think I would prefer to see the Tara King episodes produced by John Bryce. They have intrigued me ever since I first heard of them and their history.
