Thanks Denis, I was about to post the same update. There's also Reg Turner alongside Jerry Baker as museum guards in The Midas Touch

I having trouble finding Derek & Bill in my captures. Maybe 41, 42 or 43 for Bill. Can't see Derek unless he's 46 - who might be John Tatum as well. 50 might be Jerry again and Alan Gibbs might be 60 and 31!

Good eye for Reg Turner, Piers. Smile

I think Derek and Bill were only as Nazis in robes (no frames with them on the Dissolute). Maybe there are other extras as Nazis in robes in the Intro, for example, among whom were those who did play only in it.

Indeed, 46 might be John Tatum. At 50 screenshot Jerry is present, but I always got the feeling that this shot was intended for an extra beyond him.
Yes, Alan Gibbs might be 31 (but not 60).

While I worked on the letter "V" for the actors section on the Alan Hayes' website Randall and Hopkirk (Declassified), I came across an extra named Oliver Tomlin, indicated as Edward VII in film Assassination Bureau Limited (1969).

When I saw the face, it seemed very familiar to me. I started to analyze and came to the conclusion that it could be our unknown actor who played John Tyler in Avengers episode The Fear Merchants (1967).

Indeed, although Oliver in film Assassination Bureau Limited is "gray" (I think he is dyed), his eyebrows and eye shape are identical, like his hairstyle and face shape in general. Confused What do you think?

Other screenshots with unknown extra (aka "Oliver"):

Thank you, Piers, I will look forward to the result. Smile Below is another shot featuring Oliver.

Confirmed and I've credited you with the find on the britmovie forum.

Many thanks, Piers. Smile
Oliver Tomlin really looked like Patrick Macnee, hiding behind a chair in The Fear Merchants. Very Happy If not for the beard and his eyes from side to side, which helped to study his face better... It’s a pity that we cannot learn more about this person. I searched the entire Internet, including newspapers in www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk - in addition to the screenshots and the photo above with it, is nothing. Sad I hope in the future we will learn something new. Wink

I have a new one for you - one of the Roman orgy girls in The Grandeur that was Rome might be Olive Gregg, 3rd from left in shutterstock photo.

Sad Alas, Piers, girl by shot above in The Grandeur that was Rome is not Olive Gregg. Olive has eyes larger and a "potato" nose.

Curiously, I found information about Skip Martin in the theatre programme of play The Duchess of Malfi in Forum Theatre in Billingham by 1979, which says that he played in The Avengers. Yes, we already know about it, but thanks to unofficial sources.

Official source is as follows (the summary for Skip in mentioned theatre program):

Skip Martin (Grisolan)

Theatre includes Mime roles — French Ballet; Cousin Lyman in The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. Has appeared in a variety of films including Horror Hospital — Frederick; Vampire Circus – Michael ; Sandwich Man — Joey ; Masque of the Red Death; and Circus of Fear — Mr. Big. TV includes The Avengers, Canterbury Tales, and, in the USA, Murray's World, Jekyll and Hyde, Shirley's World
.

Spotlight 1968 confirms he was in The Avengers.

Piers, many thanks. So, we now know two official sources where this is indicated. By the way, are there any other performers associated with the series in Spotlight 1968 that are not listed on your website and in this forum? Wink

Possibly, it's up to the actors and their agents to list appearances on their Spotlight records so it's by actor rather than by show, and it's a bit inconsistent (e.g. Patrick Newell doesn't mention The Avengers, presumably because everybody knew he was in it).

There are some Spotlight catalogs through Google Books, I researched them before, sometimes wondering that the connection performer with some TV series could occur with a noticeable distance between year of release of catalog and production.
For example, you say that one of the 1968 Spotlight catalogs indicates Skip Martin's connection to The Avengers, although we only know he played in 1961. It can be assumed that he either appeared in another episode too, or that for some reason the old information was included in the catalog after 7 years. Confused

No, it doesn't mean he was in The Avengers recently, it means his 1968 listing mentioned The Avengers. The other productions listed for him are from 1964, 1966 and 1967. Performers chose stand-out productions as well as recent ones to advertise themselves better.

Think of it like this - if you were in Star Wars, you'd mention it all the time.

Many thanks, Piers, from now on when I will research Spotlight by Google Books I will not think about the relevance of information at all. Wink
