According to the newspaper Chronicle (Crewe, Cheshire) by 20 february 1965, actor Geoffrey Reed (mistakenly indicated as Geoffrey Reade) appeared in The Avengers. If this is true, then it turns out that he participated in the series not only for one time.

Geoffrey Reed as Carter in the episode "Never, Never Say Die" (1967).

Interesting! If it was recent reference, that would only be Death at Bargain Prices, The Master Minds, Dial a Deadly Number, The Murder Market or at a stretch The Cybernauts, Too Many Christmas Trees or the first version of The Town of No Return.

However, I don't see him in any of those (except maybe Evil Santa, but I don't think so really).

Here are some other contenders:

I checked the full list of uncredited performers until 20 February 1965 and did not find anyone like him from my point of view. Sad

But you're right, Piers, the mention of Geoffrey’s participation in the Avengers in the newspaper by February 1965 may indicate that he either recently participated in the series (or he participated in several episodes there, for example, in small roles in the first season - like Julian Holloway). It is possible that his role could be cut, like uncredited Walter Gotell as Hatch and other actor as Brewer in Take-Over (1969). http://deadline.theavengers.tv/takeover1.htm

Third picture has similar earlobe (often the giveaway) but eyebrows look different.

Geoffrey Reed in Coronation Street in 1961. Not changed very much from the image in The Avengers. Smile

Right, so none of our contenders except maybe bad santa. Geoffrey looks pretty much the same - albeit a bit heavier - in 1969 as well.

It's funny if in the end it suddenly turns out that bad Santa really is Geoffrey Reed. Very Happy
My guess is that one of the stuntmen is hiding under the mask, but in fact there can be the anyone you never think about, for example Roy Ward Baker personally. Smile

Yes, I think that one of our unidentified people from the series may well be one of the directors or scriptwriters whom we don’t know well in face (or don’t know at all). Wink Wink Wink
