Well, my resolve is now tested. The random number generator (d20) has come up with: TNA: Gnaws (US tx 29 Dec 78 ) or as my French DVD set has it, "Le monstre des égouts" or "The Sewer Monster". I know it's the better season 1, but.... wish me luck.

I've revised my opinion on this one. The old "elephant/rope/serpent" trick was done cunningly, the direction is fine and cast like Julian Holloway, Peter Cellier and Jeremy Young excel themselves. Worthy of any series 1 episode. Watching it straight after the excellent "Fog" made me realise how utterly terrifying this would've been to any kids watching.

Although I wish the sewer set were more old school with brick walls, I love the creepy atmosphere to Gnaws (how can you not love that title LOL).

Yes, it could've done with being wetter, I guess it's a bit low-budget with some water "pools" instead of tanks. Funny how Dr Who did a giant rat in the sewer around the same time. The cast is great though, so it works.

Dagnabbit! I really wanted my Christmas Random Number Generator to turn up Dressed to Kill next but I guess it is saving it until nearer New Year. Need more Cathy! But next up its a rare outing for the great Jon Rollason as the second most famous 1960s Dr Martin King, in Dead On Course. (UK tx 29 Dec 62)

My review of last night's "Christmassy" episode... Death Dispatch! 22 December 1962. http://theavengers.tv/forever/gale1-13vr.htm

The night before I did "Too Many Christmas Trees" (fellow fan review: "too cold") and "The Interrogators" which was nice - Phillip Bond was lovely in it - but a bit too much of Mother being thick. Tara was fantastic though.

overall, some really great photo grabs..from that episode...58 years ago...sorta mind boggling....of course, I've grown to appreciate Mrs.Gale over the years, keeping in mind, the Gale episodes were not shown in the U.S. until 1993..when A & E released the Avengers on VHS tape...and A & E started to show the Gale episodes on their network...to hype the early series

As a general rule I have set for my self I don't re-watch an episode for two years. This holiday season I've seen both Too Many Christmas Trees and Dressed To Kill (I watched Take-Over last year). So a double treat for me... what am I going to watch next year?

I hadn't seen either of them for four and five years, but really enjoyed them. Both are in the very top of their series.
