That Howard Blake "promo" looks like it might be a bootleg / "Recording Of Indeterminate Origin" and thus not official. _________________ Last watched: Invasion of the Earthmen on ITV4. |

Many thanks, Franky. I checked the edition referring to the label RDAF CD...
https://www.discogs.com/ru/label/176553-RDAF-CD
actually, unofficial. Now I will edit the page. _________________ Russian fan-site Steedumbrella.

Some useful thing when warned about what is legal and what is not. Eh, as for the CDr (I understand this term in the pirate business more as a self-recording), I found only two CDrs for recordings with the presence of the Avengers main theme. Although there were definitely more of them. _________________ Russian fan-site Steedumbrella.

Yes..to a point....big difference between burned DVD's and CD's for personal use-collection...and those who would do 'em..for later ' sale '..... |

The rules were quite confusing back in the 80s and 90s, when Italian law allowed these unofficial releases that would be bootlegs in any other country... before the legal loophole was closed you often found "Italian imports" at record fairs, which because they were technically legal couldn't be called bootlegs and thus the term ROIO (Recording of Indeterminate Origin) was invented. They tended to be concert recordings of various levels of quality - some very professional-sounding - but also sometimes "leaks" of unreleased tracks and alternative takes from record company vaults, recordings of live radio broadcasts, etc. Very useful for the collector! _________________ Last watched: Invasion of the Earthmen on ITV4. |

it certainly was...and as a collector myself, they were added bonuses, to the whole collecting specter.....eventually, those loopholes got closed up, etc |

Very nice!
The years links (1980s, 1990 etc) don't go anywhere - is that because they are still under construction, or is it an accident? _________________ Last watched: Invasion of the Earthmen on ITV4. |

Yes, Frankie, at the moment only the page menu has been published - gradually I will be filled with years. _________________ Russian fan-site Steedumbrella.

Ha, right now I'm working on 1980s CD releases and stuck on Television's Greatest Hits, Volume II edition (as this is the most widely distributed edition worldwide, which includes Avengers TV Theme). Already finished work with two American, one Canadian and Japanese editions (the latter is not on discogs.com) and I have to make an American and Canadian CD release of these editions for clubs and also an Australian edition. All 1986.
Based on this, I will split the page of the 1980s into several.

Oh, I suspect a lot of people were disappointed that some tracks including the Avengers were MIDI on it. _________________ Russian fan-site Steedumbrella.

exactly...some of the recordings were original tracks...either taken from the program itself, or studio recordings..the rest were horrible re recordings..
but at the time, it was better than nothing, you know ? |

Well, mousemeat, after many years of searching, I come to the conclusion that this edition was the first to include the Avengers main theme on CD. So, 1986 is the beginning and the USA was the first (of course this is only within the framework of the CDs).
Tram-tam-tararam - what a coincidence, I just posted the English language version of the page for CDs by 1986.
https://steedumbrella.ru/en_CDs_TV_series_Albums_1986.html
I studied a bunch of newspapers and found that Television's Greatest Hits: Volume II was released in September 1986 in the USA.
It is curious that for the track The Avengers, the edition indicated authorship of John Dankworth instead of Laurie Johnson.
And here is the track itself:
