Actor Graham Rigby, best known for appearances on TV series such as Coronation Street and Crossroads, died peacefully at Queens Hospital Burton on April 5th 2021.

Besides his many television works, including Doctor Who, he played Nat Fletcher in the Avengers episode A Change of Bait (1961). It is a pity that we cannot appreciate Graham's performance in this episode properly, as this video record is considered lost.

He was born in Ulverston in the 1920s and was brought up in a house on the corner of Church Street and Castle Street, Dalton, the son of Bert and Mabel Rigby. After leaving Ulverston Grammar School he went to agricultural college with a view to go into farming. However he had a love for the theatre and after joining a company in Morecambe he went on to Drama school in Bradford, before becoming stage manager at Derby Playhouse. He married in Derby where he lived and had 2 children. He went on to have a long career on TV and radio. As well as appearing as a grumpy farmer with James Herriot and Co. he appeared in Dr Who, Coronation Street and Last of the Summer Wine and countless others.
His father Bert worked in the Cost Office at Vickers Shipyard and his grandfather Sam Rigby ran the Wellington Hotel for many years. His career was covered back in the day by the Evening Mail.
