Maybe. Itís smart to do the symmetry for the black and white color as for Patrick and Sweeney, although there is no symmetry for colors with regard to images with buildings. Smile Well, I like this idea. Very Happy

Yes, it is strange that there have been few music releases in the US for European TV themes, given their wide market. Shocked In the European market, only Great Britain and France shone, while the rest issued occasional releases in this area. Alas, in the USSR and Russia there was not a single release with the Avengers theme on any licensed physical medium, and in Internet years, when physical media have gone down in history for a mass consumer, it seems that we can almost forget about interesting releases that might come out (interesting releases now are in self-publishing and for collectors, but who knows how many physical media collectors will be in the next generation).

Although licensed CD editions with the Avengers theme are still being released - this year there are two of them (to this day). Wink
One from France https://arksquare.net/detail.php?cdno=A002108139
Other from UK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114910106329

Yes, the access to images might depend on budget. Some of the "soundtrack of 1965" type releases seem to use generic fashion shoots etc, rather than the real telly stars. Even some of the "Cult TV" releases have some random no-names too, if they even have photos. I guess ITV wanted something more prestigious than a budget branding for its 50th anniversary promotional stuff.

CDs from 2006 (only 5 editions for this year):

https://steedumbrella.ru/en_CDs_TV_series_Albums_2006.html

It might seem like there will be about the same number of Avengers-themed CDs coming out over the next few years, but in fact in 2007 more than ten CDs were released with. Very Happy

1998 is the undisputed champion with a noticeable lead over the rest of the years. All thanks to the numerous CDs for the movie The Avengers (some discs had bonuses with the classic series theme).

Denis, I forgot that the movie came out in 1998...and the market place was poised to meet the demand , especially if the film was a box office monster..but sadly, it was a huge flop..and cooled down interest in the series, somewhat..I will be fair, and comment that the film was edited down,(quite a bit) from the director's original cut....I understand close to 45 mins got lopped off...and there is NO PLANS from Warner Bros, to go in and do a director's cut..with the restored footages...One can only hope that Criterion, or Shout Factory (U.S.) would do it, and in blu-ray....but there was a good cross section of music from the series / movie that came out in that time period.

Exactly, Nick. For example, I always thought that even though the narrow circle of people had the impression that the original version of the movie was a failure (and film was cut), it could still be much better than what we have. The trailer for the movie, which includes cut material, looks tempting. One of the main questions is, how many real Avengers fans were there who evaluated the original cut of the movie? If a minority (and most likely it was), then they were simply guided by a banal marketing rule for blockbusters - cut out all unnecessary and make the movie as dynamic and entertaining as possible for the majority.
Yes, releasing a more complete version of the movie could change the attitude to it - it's strange that the studios don't go for it.

Again, you are spot on with your assessment...and it's been noted that the director told Warners, he would re edit, and restored the missing footages for free. instead of charging for his time, etc....and sadly, Warners has zero interest in doing this...and again, I'm hoping that some company like Critetion, Shout Factory, Kino-Lober, would license the film, and give it a proper release after 20 plus years..

CDs from 2007 (10 editions for this year posted on the website):

https://steedumbrella.ru/en_CDs_TV_series_Albums_and_Singles_2007.html

Earlier I wrote that there are more than 10 CD editions with the Avengers theme for 2007 (as it was on old Steedumbrella page), but it turned out that three CDs were of a different year of release. Two French ones released earlier (a source indicated incorrect information about some releases - these CDs will soon be posted on a separate page along with some other editions, the year of release of which is still unknown) and one from 2018. However, it is easy to suggest that there could be rare CDs with the Avengers theme in 2007, so there may actually be more than 10 editions. Very Happy

As for the front covers, we go back to the 1990s, where there were many commemorative images. Razz I love almost all front covers from CDs with Avengers theme in 2007, my favorite is below:

I also published some large scans for different editions and the booklet from The Music Of Laurie Johnson: TV And Film Themes & Concert Hall Work.

https://steedumbrella.ru/files/The_Music_of_Laurie_Johnson_disc2_booklet.pdf

I also first heard a curious variation on the Avengers theme from "Beach Bellydance Babylon" album. This guitar meditation starts at 2:11. Very Happy

Haha, just that post Smile

I thought I'd spotted an Avengers track on a 1993 compilation of stuff like Gerry Anderson shows, but looking at your page for the year, three times!, showed me you already had it. I knew you would be comprehensive Smile

And that is a lovely cover with Emma on blue.

Ha, I try to do this extensively although some things are not going as well as planned for the reason that I found that I didnít have scans for some of the editions I thought I had Laughing (mainly for the reason that when the site was on old hostings, I compressed many images to save space and did not save the original images, thinking that it would not be difficult to find it later on the Internet - I was wrong. Fortunately, I still have some rarities of those times, I found on the Internet). Wink
Actually I canít wait until I finally move on to vinyls for Avengers theme, since these CD editions over the past 20 years are no longer so interesting (regular collections with the same performers of the avengers theme or something new, but not intriguing with rare exceptions).

Dream: I just thought that this lovely cover with Emma on blue could be for example in a new collection from Art&Hue (in their new development of artistic delights for The Avengers). Smile

Yes, it is getting strange how many common internet pages and images aren't kept - including on Wayback Machine. Sound files too. There are some really common recordings from the 1990s like the vocal versions of the Professionals theme tune by Laurie Johnson which I bought in a major high street chain (Woolworths) as a chart single and which are nowhere to be found on the net now. The risk of a "technological Dark Age" where electronic records are lost to posterity is very real.

Dear Denis,
You English is just perfect! That was most interesting to hear. YOu are clearly a creative thinker and communicate very well. i don't speak Russian and could not communicate a thing to you, so we are all impressed I think.
I am so glad to hear the new generation is not burdened with the past in general. Well except the group you say that will agree or disagree with the old timers. I guess it is hard to change for the old timers that want to return to the past they know than the future they are frightened of.
By the way, what is the older generations rational for wanting to return to communism and what is their fear with the new regime?
Well I guess my next question can be what brand of toothpaste you use! LOL!

i have to tell you. I had a friend visit Russia who brought back the best tasting chocolate bar I ever tasted! I was impressed!

Excellent! I will not more go back to notion its knowledges of the English language. Very Happy

So, there are several items that can be identified with reference to the rationality of the older generation to communism:

1. Cohesion of the people, the existence of the people as a whole without the need for social control, and, in main, for protection from destruction of the system of restraint on the part of the dangerous and original thinking.
Cruel? But this is a communism!
2. Outside the system of communism - degradation of the person, because, in their view, a person becomes free - it turns into some sort of obsessed with freedom, he thinks, how he wants, thereby associate an anarchist.
3. The preservation of cultural values of the past and the eradication of the factors leading to change. That is the world without change. Laughing
4. Need to be treated equally, to avoid a war in own system. Laughing Laughing Laughing

We can see how Communism was acting against the people and promote their interests to the total power. They showed obvious western abominations and it worked. When the Iron Curtain fell, I saw something that struck me - was normal around the world and people have lived their interests. It was similar to what if our country for many years been involved in some global play and when the play was over, there was time to go to the exit.
Well, the play was funny. Very Happy

The Fear of the older generation with the new regime?

Based on the answer to the first question, I see the older generation and the people that listen to this - there fear the collapse of their country and the destruction of cultural property from the West. They also believe that the West in the near future will be to control their interests, and this will lead to a complete degeneration of the Russian as an independent nation.

Well I guess my next question can be what brand of toothpaste you use!

Well, you is right, if we delve in contemporary life in Russia, we, ten to one, come to this subject. Very Happy

I had a friend visit Russia who brought back the best tasting chocolate bar I ever tasted! I was impressed!

Oh, you rated it? Yes, it is. The old russian factory "Red October", producing candy and chocolate is one of the best in the world and once you try it, you will not forget ever.
For food products, in Russia there are many memorable things. Chicken sausage, fish products, ice creams, cakes, sweets for tea, etc. Never get tired of it. Smile

Oh man, that chocolate sounds right up my alley.....lol.....and cripes, don't let my wife get ahold of some...she'll go hog wild......

Ha, but I think that it would not appear so much as in Soviet times when the quality of Red October was better. Smile
The current generation already understands less why there are still many names in Russia that refer either to the times of the October Revolution like Red October or the communist system like Young household troops. Very Happy Indeed, the country has existed for many years and you still see these special accents for the last century in Russia, as if this is the main thing that people should know. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Unexpectedly, the work on this page took a lot of time. For the sake of curiosity, I checked the further course of events for the section and noticed that since 2013 the number of CDs with the Avengers theme will drop sharply.
