I would like to believe that we will see The Avengers in 4k and more, there are still a lot of blurry faces and details even on Blu Ray. For example, it may take at least 8k to see the clear faces of the inhabitants of the underground dwelling in The Living Dead.

Surprisingly, I checked the episode The Forget-Me-Knot by the USA and French Blu Rays - it's identical. I thought the number of episodes on one disc of the American Blu Ray edition would somehow affect the quality, but no. The only thing is that there are no bonuses on American Blu Ray edition.

the problem with the 'american' blu ray releases of season 4, 5, and the tara era, as sold on AMAZON, they are region 2. and won't play on the majority of blu ray players in the United States. Unless, you're lucky enough to have a all region player...and if that's the case, you would be better off buying a UK/German release of the series..

Exactly, mousemeat.
Alas, I do not have a multi-regional player, but I use DVDFab Passkey that allows you to watch content from any region at computer or gadget.
I guess these French Blu Rays are completely or almost completely identical to the British and German ones in terms of bonuses, since the quality of the pictures is identical on all Blu Rays of the series with the exception of the Cybernauts trilogy, where new restoration work has been done. Wink

I use AnyDVD to unlock mine, very useful but of course only on the computer. Fortunately all Australian bluray players are region free. We're not so constrained by big business here and the government some years ago passed legislation to allow multi-region as so few films and tv shows were distributed locally.

how lucky you are....I'll have to purchase a region free blu-ray player to enjoy the ' bootleg' american blu ray copies, or purchase a UK/FRENCH/GERMAN disc set....the blu rays gotta look better than those original A & E dvd's, which were simply a VHS transfer

That has been a godsend for UK lovers of archive telly, because the Australian sets were often far better in terms of picture quality, extras, commentaries, interviews etc and not too hard to import. Especially for ITC, ITV and ATV series DVDs, although for a time even video cassettes were wanted from Australia as they had the same PAL 625-line standard and didn't keep being deleted like BBC ones!

Probably. They're mostly from Umbrella Entertainment I think.

More new info to hand, showing that Rosemary Chalmers is one of the dolly birds in "Bizarre" and my frequent unnamed stuntman is little Art Thomas!

So, our unknown Ronny again became the Art Thomas. Wink Were there any new ideas that led back to this point?

Personally, I was always curious where did Mike get the information that Art Thomas was in Take-over, if before the release of his book this was not mentioned on any source I studied? It looked like he could get information from an official source rather than guessing. Indeed, all of these errors in Mike's book in the production documents regarding unlisted persons in the episodes were taken by him from other Avengers sites, but not Art Thomas in Take-over. If this is really Art in Take-over according to Mike's information, then our "Ronnie" identified (even if someone finds a bit of similarity between Art in the black and white Avengers episodes and the color ones).

It would have been nice if the press release for the episode Take-over had indicated our Ronnie's name (they included Mary Burleigh and some other unlisted persons, like Terence Maidment in Requiem), but it didn't. Sadly. It does include a cut scene with Walter Gotell though. Wink

Yes, Art is confirmed in paperwork for Take-Over and 50,000 Pound Breakfast - maybe another one, I was skimming excitedly through a trove last night.

Also:
Betty Woolfe in Murdersville, wearing the same hat she wore in an episode of The Saint, Lee Atkinson & Tamsin Millard in Funny Thing, Anthony Marlowe in Highly Improbable - I think he's the guy that Philly said was Terence Conolley.
Paul Weston's character in Murdersville is called Jarvis, btw!

Oh, and I think one of the background doctors in Requiem is Johnnie Wade, he might be in other episodes too.

Wow, real discoveries. Many thanks, Piers. Curious, what are the papers for both episodes where Art's name is confirmed? Wink

Gonna take a look at Betty Wolfe and other performers to be content with new identifications. Smile It turns out there is another Anthony Marlowe relatively notable actor?

Anthony Marlowe
